Hello – If this has been talked about in the past I apologize. I removed my old boat stickers and I still have a sticky residue left on the boat. What does everyone recommend to use to get the residue off. Thanks.

Paint thinner may also work for you. That’s what I’ve used in the past. Rub your finger across the adhesive too, which may ‘ball’ it up, making it easier to peel off. Good luck, let us know what works best.
I’ve never tried this before but someone once told me to use a hairdryer to heat them up and they would peel right off. Again, I have not tried this so wait for someone else to chime in before trying it.
Thanks,
Dave

Goo Gone
This stuff works great on all kinds of sticky stuff
was pretty cheap
The best way i have found is before you try and remove the sticker heat it up with a heat gun and or hair dryer. Most of the glue should come with it. But for the residue use some goo-gone. After that you want to make sure you clean with rubbing alcohol to remove the flim goo-gone left behind. good luck!
just put the new sticker over it, firmly apply pressure to seal it down. problem solved…

Soak it in WD-40 and the adhesive will come right off.
Agreed works great.

The best way for trailer and or boat.
Hairdryer and a plastic scraper. I removed a whole bunch of reflective letters off of my boat this way. Just make sure that you do not heat the sticker too much or they will tear.
Once you have it removed to your liking. I start a new sticker on top of a vinyl (get at the vinyl lettering shop) sticker backer the same size at the new license. Then after a few new ones peal it off install a new one and reapply license for a few renewals again.

Mineral spirits works great, but you want to clean the oily residue from the surface before you apply the new stickers. Just apply mineral spirits let it set about 10 minutes to allow it to soften the glue then wipe it off with a rag soaked in mineral spirits. Wash the surface of your boat with soap and water before you apply the new stickers.
Like many said WD40 will work the same way as mineral spirits.
WD40 is a very good de-greaser, after working on your car or truck spray WD40 liberally on your hands rub them together vigorously and wipe clean with a clean rag. Grease or oil stain on your jeans come clean if you spray the area with WD40 let it soak 5-10 minutes and wipe clean, on heavier stains you may have to repeat the process.
Circular rubbing rolls up the adhesives. Minnial sprits work great and are less abusive to your boat.
Then when clean to your liking soap and water wash then wax!
I just skimmed over the other responses, so this may have already been said. I get 3M adhesive remover from any place that sells auto body shop supplies. Works awesome and cleans up very easily.
I had some “competing website” stickers on my truck that were THE most stubborn things I’ve ever come across to remove.
A hair dryer is adequate but not even close to what a heat gun will do. I picked up a really cheap $15 or so heat gun from Northern Tool and that did the trick on most of the stickers.
To get the remaining adhesive off the truck, I needed Gasoline on a rag to do it. Nothing else worked. WD-40 is usually good to get adhesive off but not this stuff. Gas did the trick and was very effortless as well. Just washed the side of the truck good with soap & water afterwards.
Gasoline was the only thing that took that nasty goo off my boat that had several stickers on it. I tried all sorts of different products mentioned here.
