Versus back with Direct 3/16/2010 – bassfan release
For the past 6 months, BassFans with DirecTV have lamented the loss of fishing programs on the Versus network. Versus and DirecTV were embroiled in a pricing war, which meant programs like FLW Outdoors were unavailable to DirecTV subscribers. At the same time, sponsors of that show and other shows were denied reach into millions of households.
The two parties came to an agreement yesterday (as the NHL playoffs neared) and DirecTV is again airing the Versus network. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Official statements from both parties were distributed in a press release.
Derek Chang, DirecTV executive VP of content strategy and development said: “We’re pleased that both sides were able to work out a satisfactory deal to bring this programming back to our customers.”
Versus president Jamie Davis said: “We’re excited that we were able to come to a fair agreement that puts Versus back in millions of homes with DirecTV in time for our busy spring programming schedule. We look forward to super-serving these fans with NHL regular-season and playoff coverage, our first live UFC event and much more.”
