It only takes 3 minutes…

Yesterday I decided to take my boat to the carwash and detail it before I come down to P4 this weekend. I had 2 hours to burn before my day was to begin. At 7:30am monday morning I hooked up to my boat and headed to the carwash. When I got there I got out of the truck, opened the door, and backed the boat in. I proceeded to wash and wax my boat and when finished I pulled the truck and boat out of the car wash and into the parking lot of the gas station that it was connected to. I walked into the gas station, which was about 300 feet from where I parked, I used the restroom and bought a pop which took between 3-5 minutes. I returned to the truck, started it and turned the lights on to notice that the trailer lights were not working. I got out of the truck to investigate and my findings blew me away. Upon checking the lights I noticed that some thing on the boat just didn’t look right and thats when it hit me……. Some one had cut the wires and stolen my LCX-37c and LCX-27c with ram mounts, lake map chips and my sense of security.
I am asking everyone out in IDO land to keep there eyes peeled and watch for any units being sold without any wiring. I would like nothing more than to catch them theiving little basturds and make them pay for what they did.
I am starting to think it is some one that I know since 3 years ago I had all 15 of my rods and reels stolen along with 2 huge tackle boxes full of cranks and plastics for bass fishing. I am sure there will be a place in hell for the people that do this kind of thing but I am sure thankful that after the first incidant I decided to put insurance on my boat with a genorous rider to cover things like this. It was definately a monday

Did you call the police? Were there cameras at the station?

Not to make light of your situation, but this is reason 101 why I do not use public restrooms.

Seriously, that is terrible and I hope you catch the scumbag, or at the very least he gets hit by a garbage truck and becomes mamed for life.

Man that really sucks. I hear more and more of these stories and it just me up. My wife had her car broke into at the Dome last year and they took the gps and my kids games and stuff – it totally ruined the experience he had going to his first NFL game (even if it was the Vikes). Things like this can really shake a guys confidence in our “fellow man”.

I hope you can get your stuff back or resolved easily with insurance and I hope the culprit gets caught.

Not cool. What goes around comes around Joe to these types of people. A few years ago my canoe was stolen. About exactly a year later from the time it was stolen- while fishing from “shore” because this beauty jacked my canoe- I saw him launching it at the access. I got my canoe back.

A couple years ago a tree in our yard came down during a storm, took out the wife’s car, part of my truck, the electric mast to the house and somehow missed doing any damage to the boat, that night we had to leave the truck outside the fence and some a$$hole stole the Alpine deck and $700 work of speakers.

Unfortunately now days, if you can’t see it, somebody will steal it.

Doubtful you’ll find the stuff, or the people responsible for stealing it, but it would be nice to find them and have them fall down a flight of stairs, 4 or 5 times…

No there were not cameras in that portion of the parking lot and nobody seen anything but yes I did file a police report and they are “looking into it” (we all know what that means) but thankfully I keep pretty good records of what I buy and I have all the receipts for everything so it shouldnt be a problem to get them replaced with the insurance I have. But now I face a new dilema since those units are discontinued I would have to get the HDS series from Lowrance but I have heard nothing good about them so I am looking into Humminbird for the replacements. What is every bodyies opinion on that?

I couldn’t agree with you more that there will be a place in hell for people like this. I understand desperation and people down on their luck and feeling like being between a rock and a hard place. But there is no excuse for people like this. Regardless of how desperate someone feels, it never justifies these types of actions. I hope you/police are able to catch them! You are right – it only takes a minute or two.

I had a LMS-350 stolen out of my boat a few years back. Topped off the gas tank and went inside to pay. Came out and the locator was gone along with a couple rods that were strapped down on the deck. Security camera only could show it was a red truck and a white male. Rest of the detail on the vid sucked and was worthless.

I actually work setting up security systems for businesses and I have heard many stories like yours. Too bad their camera system didn’t help you.

It is a good reminder though. I know I get too passive sometimes with safe gaurding my equipment. Good luck-I hope you get the SOB’s

Don’t only look for the station cams, take a good look around at other businesses in the area too. It’s pretty amazing how much is getting caught on tapes these days, go back there and take a really good gander around the area. Catch them and then call me please. Sorry to hear this.

What neighborhood were you in? I have heard of more than one person getting their stuff back pretending to go buy it on craigslist. Good luck

Why don’t we ever hear of scumbags getting beaten to within inches of thier life after getting caught stealing from someone’s boat or truck???

Beating these scumbags would be illegal, but I could see them possibly falling down numerous times while running away

There is a special place in hell for idiots like this. Karma will catch up with them

Despicable is the best site friendly adjective I can use to describe these types. What makes a person think that they some how are entitled to what someone else has worked for is beyond my comprehension. I am almost ashamed to have already thought out way to protect myself should I catch someone in the act. Always make sure the injuries are on the front of the body as they are easier to explain away as self defense. That means if you get them on the ground, turn them over.

When my buddies bow shop was broken into, most were recovered from 2 pawn shops. I would call around to some pawn shops and act interested in buying such units. If they say they have such items, I would go and look to see if they are yours. DO NOT tell them you had units stolen from you. They don’t want to loose money when the cops seize them. If you find your units, call the cops and they will seize them. Do you have serial #’s so you can ID them?

That really sucks, not much worse than having personal items you worked hard for stolen.

Where were you? Makes me a scared to run in to the station for food. Mine are also mounted on ram mounts and I usually put them in the cab for this exact reason. I tell you what id beat someone to with an inch of their life even if I saw them grab them from someone elses boat. Hopefully if they are planning on using them if they cut the wires it shorted out the units and they are junk anyway. Sorry to hear about that.
