Good luck Dog – Cabo is an unbelievable fishing destination. I caught and tagged this striped marlin the last time I was there.

Looking for a place to vacation next winter…

I have always found, talk to the locals. Whatever hotel you are staying at… quiz a few bartenders… they will know who is catching fish and who’s taking you for a spendy boat ride. They will want to make you happy…. happy = better tips all week Have fun

Biggest problem I’ve found is when you go on vacation somewhere and try to “squeeze in fishing” for a 1/2 day or day. That’s about what you get. A squeezed in fishing trip with varying results.

We stopped vacationing with people who wanted to lay on the beach, get drunk, party, ect.

When we vacation, we go to go fishing. Stay at fishing resorts that their target clientele are there to fish with little else in mind. The resorts are built with fishing in mind and everything else is second to fishing. Those trips have been 100x better than vacationing somewhere and going fishing for a day.

Regarding the sea sickness. I highly recommend the Transdermal Scop. I am prone to sea sickness and this is a miracle of modern science.

    Just an FYI.

Simply AWESOME. There is something about Deep Blue fishing that just grabs you and never lets go. Enjoy Dog.

    Any specific resort recommendations?

Mike I can’t comment on Cabo. Overall the best fishing is the hot months of the year in the northern area (Florida). Summer months are really good for a lot of species as they follow the warm water. Like our fish, they slow down during the cooler months.

With that being said, check out Crocidile Bay resort in Costa Rica. Haven’t been there yet, but know others who have and we are going to be booking there. http://www.crocodilebay.com/

With that being said it also depends on what species you are looking at. My favorite deep blue species is the Dorado (Mahi Mahi, Dolphin, or Dorado depending on where in the world you are). Their color, power, and flavor are unmatched.

Corcidile Bay is known for it’s bill fish (sails and marlin).

Tarpon are another time of the year and area specific fish. The Florida Keys in the summer months.
