Got a call from a friend a couple of days ago that he saw my picture on the cover of Bassmaster Magazine. I didn’t know anything about it, and had not gotten my issue yet.

My daughter called me a couple of hours later from INdiana.

An article in the March issue is about the 12 year history of the “Lunker Club” feature in the magazine. The Bassmaster mag that had the pic in it on the Lunker Club page was the April 2009 issue, with Bill Dance on the cover.

The picture of my over 6 lb Smallmouth was taken by Sliderfishn on our trip up to the Bay a couple of years ago. The first two picture might be the same fish caught a few hours apart. We sure did catch some nice Smallies, most of Ron’s pic’s are on his camera.

    Pretty cool.

I have read that entire Bassmaster, I guess I should have looked closer at the cover. One would think that I would recognise a picture that I took.
Here is more pics than you want as well as the report of Jack’s and my trip. Chequamegon Bay

    Congrats Jack!

I didn’t have time to read the whole thread, but this is very COOL!

But I have to tell you…that last picture of you when you were a bit younger does not do you justice. You were an freaking ugly kid.

Glad you aged out of it.

Jack sent his picture in and they published it in the lunker caught section. They must have liked it so much they thought they should publish it again

The fish was caught late May of 2007, and I finally sent the application in later that year. They accepted it right away into the Lunker Club, but didn’t get the picture into the mag til the April 2009 issue. Actually I almost forgot about the entry when it finally showed up.

Thanks Brian, I am also quite happy I was able to grow out of that stage in my life…. couldn’t even get a date….

    Thanks everyone for the comments.

I now know my 15 minutes IS OVER. I”ll get over it this June when I put my wife on a bigger one.

It would be pretty cool if we saw a picture of you’re wife holding up a big smallie on the cover of Bassmaster next April.

    Very Cool

When Jack is bored at home, he fills up the bath tub and can even catch fish there … then throw him on a real body of water and the fishies don’t have a chance!!
