Anybody from Wisconsin?

This is a very similar post to the one I posted in the Nebraska Fishing Forum. I realize it is somewhat strange, but I’ve seen many great people on this site willing to help a guy out.

Wondering if there is anybody in the Hayward, WI area that would be willing to help “facilitate” a purchase and shipping of a somewhat large item?

What I am hoping for is that I can agree to a price with the seller. I would then send a check to the IDO member willing to help me for the amount. I would also send a check to cover the shipping, packaging, plus a little extra for your troubles. As mentioned above, I’ve seen enough requests and ensuing offers on this site, I feel like I could trust IDO members to be “my eyes” to verify the condition of the item and see that it is shipped properly.

If anybody is interested/willing, you can PM me for details.

    Thanks.

I think you guys are being a little harsh. My finely tuned BS meter is not going off.

This is word for word the classic craigslist/ebay scam. Even if it is not I won’t touch it with a 200 foot pole. Maybe he should have left out the part about the “extra money for shipping and blah blah blah” Let me know how it goes for the lucky guy who takes this deal.

Perhaps. If it really is legit then I encourage the poster to convince everyone. What is the object? By check do you mean cash or cashier check? I’m sure you can handle the purchase transaction direclty with seller, right?
You are just looking for help with transport to get it closer to you, right???
I still think this post has chance at legitimatacy. Its up the the poster now.

    Guys,
I realize this sounds exactly like an internet scam. I’ve been a member here since 2005 and would hate to do anything to discourage my continued membership.

What I am attempting to do with this request is I guess protect myself from an internet scam. I trust the members here more than the seller of the item. What I want to do is this: after I come to terms with the seller, I would send 2 checks to the IDO member. One payable to the seller for the amount. The second payable to the IDO member to cover shipping, etc. If the IDO member wants additional to compensate for time/trouble I would understand, if not, that’s fine too.

Here’s where my protection comes, the IDO member would be able to take possession of the item and verify near new condition before handing the check to the seller.

The seller just happens to be in Hayward, WI. After looking on mapquest, I saw that it was somewhat close to Hager City (Everts Resort) which apparently almost everybody on here knows/frequents.

I’ve talked to Wade through PM about this same topic. The item is probably too bulky that he would not be able to transport back from WI if he heads that way with Ben Garver in a month or so.

Don’t know if that clears things up or not. Thanks for reading though.

Sounds legit to me. JD, I wish Wade and I could help you out. We’re just not 100% sure we’re heading up there yet.

    Ben,

The item(s) is somewhat bulky and Wade made it sound like he didn’t know if you guys would have room if you do make the trip.

I am following Wade’s advice as far as exploring the shipping option through Spee Dee Delivery. Just trying to keep costs down.

That information seems a little more believable. I would think if you want the request to be taken seriously put the facts on the table from the get go. Good Luck

And I will CONTINUE to trust MY gut.

Trying to decide if I can help you. I am going up there this weekend but that’s only two days away and I dont plan on getting up there again for several weeks. I imagine there are 4 of those tracks. Would they fit easily in a pickup bed? You would have to overnight checks and such. PM me if you are interested in pursueing.
BTW-I bring up checks again because I cant imagine the seller taking a personal one.

    85Lund,
You’re right. I just didn’t want to throw the information out there unless there was at least some possibility of somebody helping me out.

Part of this whole situation is that I want to have some idea of how I am going to get the tracks to me and the associated cost so I know how much I can negotiate with the seller. Right now, he wants more than I am willing to spend because with the shipping, I could just as well buy a new set. However, he indicates he will entertain offers and he wants to get rid of the tracks because he bought (or is going to buy) a snowmobile so he and his wife can ride.

Ok. I retract my previous statement. It sounded so much like the classic internet scam that I figured there was some sort of joke involved somewhere.

Another option, money wise, might be best, Paypal. That way everyone is covered, and it is immediate. No overnight, no check, etc.

I go through Hayward a few times during April, May, and June. If you don’t have any luck, PM me. I can make the drive, about 4.5 hours roundtrip, if you pay the gas. Otherwise I would also do, it for no charge, if I am going through.

Another option is USPS money orders. Once they are cashed at the post office it is a done deal.

    REALLY????

(Especially based on his very first post)

Anyone else here ever deal with identity theft? How many people get fraudulent emails daily by the dozens? Anyone ever have someone hijack thier ebay and paypall accounts??

    Not fun..

Best of luck to you guys, though.

I want to thank Suzuki for stepping forward to commit to helping me out with this. Although the purchase has not happened and unfortunately may not, I appreciate the fact that he was willing to help another IDO member.

Wade, Ben, and White Tip thanks goes to you guys also for any input and offers that you provided.
