My only question is why it has to be done as an executive order instead of the usual legislative procedure?
Something this big should be in the open.

Fully knowing this, their angle was “to make the workplace safe”…. the waiters and waitress and bartenders, who needed the job, were entitled to clean air. Like I said, it was not the end of the world like I & others thought it would be… if you really think about it, cancer is no fun

Oh please. No one forces them to work there. So maybe we should shut down all the coal mines, guys pushing asphalt behind a truck or any place that is 100Xs more dangerous than working at a bar.

I thought the argument was safer for the workers?

You want safer for the worker and public. How many of you painters and remodler types are up to speed on the new EPA lead paint stuff taking effect and the training and abatement procedures required. Yikes. Simple little projects are getting more spendy.

I am biased in this “splinter discussion”… because I have dealt with a cancerous tumor in my voice box (larnyx), according to Rochester, from second hand smoke. I spent years singing in bars/nightclubs…but never smoked.
I liken smoking in an enclosed place to peeing in a swimming pool…sooner or later..everyone gets a “taste” of it.

By July both MI and WI will prohibit any smoking in all public places, incl bars and restaruants.

While I love the smoking ban, I completely disagree with the law.

Noone made me book gigs at these places. Noone forced the wait staff to work at these places. Noone force me to take my families out to these restaurants.

The following is not directed at anyone, simply my opinion. While I know many things I do are not healthy, I’m prepared to deal with the consequences of my choices in life instead of blaming others.

While I can agree with most of this also… there are stupid people out there, who will take their kids into situations that they probably shouldn’t, all the time. Like I have said before, 90% of the laws on the books are for 10% of the people… unfortunately, sometimes, we all get caught in the wake…

There’s no way this could ever happen. And if it does I will be joining the newly formed local militia to regain my freedom.

I was against the smoking ban in Minnesota prior to it changing. And I’m not a smoker either. Now that the law has been in effect, I think it is a great law and I can’t wait until July when Wisconsin changes.

I’ve even pinched myself a few times before making this post, because it looks like I’m agreeing with Big G on something.

I’m going to mail big g a spare Packers jersey here soon, he’s begining to make some sense! He and I also agree that it is not necessary to have a fishing pole to go on a fishing trip! So the big O (Obama) can have one of my extra poles.

I agree, those are the jerks you see toking away with an infant strapped in the back seat of a car. Makes a guy want to slap them. Why aren’t there laws protecting our youth who don’t get to choose their parents??
