since I have been blessed with countless truck breakdowns this year, the number must be pushing 10 or more.. water pump three times. two fuel pumps, ( same truck).. and a distributer cap.. and a DRIVE SHAFT.. all one truck..

a complete exhaust system on the other suburban.. and now.. a leaky radiator..on the second suburban.. I was told yesterday that the outsides of the radiator are now “plastic” is this correct.. on a 94 ? and that I need a whole new radiator.. to the tune of four to five hundred..

    is that right..

old rat, plastic end tanks are common on modern radiators. i installed a brand new radiator on my 1991 gmc a year ago. the radiator was less than $150 and it took me an hour to install. i purchased it from united auto in lacrosse wi.

I would certainly think you could find a radiator for $160.00-$240.oo at a parts house and about 1.5 hours or less to install, while your doing the radiator I would do a new thermostat at the same time. The price depends in how wide your radiator is between the cores (tank to tank). There are 3 different radiators that fit that burb.

I get $80 for doing both if no bolts break, but my labor rate is not as high as most shops

So on a high note it would around $320-$330 including tax

This should help you out some

I own an auto repair shop in central wisconsin and to me that sounds like old rat is getting the shaft. you can get a radiator for under $200.00 and installing it is quite simple. let me know if you have any questions.
