    1. I’ll use lead until all the eagles and loons are dead.

    2. No wonder I couldn’t read a few pages. Thought maybe it was too many beers at lunch.

And guys, the languages are to our advantage. Think of all the times the COs must have to deal with the excuse of not understanding the laws/rules. And then holding up in court?? I think this is a good thing.

I’m expected to know the laws of this state. Why isn’t someone who uses English as a second language? It’s a rhetorical question, they are expected to know and abide by the laws.

I say hit them with the highest possible fine for not even bothering to understand the law if that’s their excuse.

I didn’t take the time to read the link (working) but based on how it was worded I assumed that some of the rules were in 4 languages too.

I’m trying to say that they are still breaking the law even if they don’t know it. EVERYONE knows the whole ignorance statment. BUT,My point is that I’m sure COs waste all kinds of time with this,,and so does our judicial system. And I’m not saying everyone fights their fines but if they want to,,,,there goes your tax dollars. Even though the rules aren’t listed in other languages, Tell me what it hurts to do that? I still say it’s only helpful.

    Brian- that explains a lot.

my only point many have made is that the consumption ONLY is in different languages, not the regulations.
You buy a licence you get a rule book, no excuses.

My view on the language part. If you want to live and work and call yourself American, and get all the benefits, then speak, read and write our language and pay taxes like everyone else. I think they need to teach english to the kids in school, before you try and get them to learn another language. Not sure who it was that said it ( maybe it was Winston Churchill)about the English and American people, we are two like peoples divided by a common language.

    My 2 cents.

In my travel experiences, be it to Mexico, Japan, Philippines,China, SGP, etc… the spoken language for business is English. The nationality of those involved does not matter.

So not having English as a first language as was or still maybe in Ca. does not do anyone a favor. When was the last time anyone heard Spanish spoken in a non-native Spanish speaking country? Not to pick on Spanish, just an example.

So adding other languages to me should not be done. While English may not be an official language it is the unofficial language, both here in American and around the world.

Slightly different topic, while my heritage is 100% German and the color of my skin is light, I do not call myself a German or light skinned American. Just an American. To me those that want to call themselves (color) American or (nationality) American are not truly American. When you come to America leave you color and nationality at the border!!!!!!!! To do otherwise only creates barriers.

#2 – gonefishin: you really nailed it!
    This is America.

#1 – I’m in favor to get the lead out. But I can’t afford to do it over night. I’m not opposed to the advertisement. It’s interesting to see how manufacturers will want to gouge us $$$ for the change over. Some of these ‘lead’ exchanges are a heck of a rip off. What’s up with that?

1, maybe, but why not warnings about mercury too?
    Or anything else that pollutes?

2, I remember my grandfather saying, one of the first things he did when he came from the old country was to learn English so he could become a American.
I’d expect the same for others, instead of America trying to kiss everybody’s backside.
    So…one language for me.
