I’ve been looking for a keel guard for an 18′ Ranger glass boat. I’ve been looking at one from Cabela’s, and it seems to be most reasonably priced but understand there are some other products that are more expensive. Would anyone be able to provide some information that could point me in the right direction? IOW pros and cons of either or? Thanks in advance.

    Hambys!

Have it installed by a dealer and your worries are over.

I have a keel shield that was installed by a dealer on an 18.5′ skeeter bass boat and i can beach it and basically do whatever and that thing doesnt even show the scuffs hardly. Any type of shield will probably do but that is one investment i’m extremely glad i had done to the boat..

Or the Hamby’s light and do it yourself.

I’ve had both a hambys and keelshield the hambys is by far the best and easyest to have done costs the most, because a dealer has to do it,if you’re into do it yourself the keel shield if you follow the directions exactly is a good unit it has stayed stuck very good,it isn’t as thick but seams to do the job,you got to crawl around and sand underneith and prime and is a lot more work, the lite hambys I’veheard is a very good unit

Thanks for responses. Overall thyme appears to be you get what you pay for!! After speaking with a local dealer this morning I think I’m going to try the Hamby’s light and do it myself.
