I’m looking for suggestions on a good place to go. What’s a good resort to go to? Something reasonable. My wife and two friends are going. Is fishing as good as canada? Please help!

Lake or River fishing? Time of year? Size of boat?

We want to go at the end of July. And probably a lake would be best. Boat I guess doesn’t matter that much.

I would suggest High Banks on Lake Winnie. The end of July on Winnie offers great bites while riggin’, corkin’, pitching jigs to vegetation and open water crank bait trolling.

    Trev on Otter Tail Lake

Give Trev a call or PM. Great local guides and fishing too.

    Wigwam Resort on LOTW’s

Impossible to fish closer to Canada without a passports
No boat needed…the the charter guides put you on fish and while you’re taking a nap they’ll have them clean and fry them up for dinner for you.

The Red Door Resort on Lake Mille Lacs

Check in with the folks at the Red Door. Charter and Guided trips available.

Tough choices, but one of them should fit your needs.

Brian list some good choices. If you’re looking for ‘eyes, any of those are a good choice in general, but at the end of July LOTW might be your best bet for walleye. Although you can still get into good walleye on Ottertail and Mille Lacs that time of year by rigging, pulling spinners, and pulling cranks in the open water. If you like to fish for smallmouth bass then Mille Lacs would be a great choice at the end of July. There are some small rock reefs in the northwest corner not too far from the Red Door that produce good numbers of smallies that time of year.

Brian didn’t mention it, but Everts Resort on Pool 4 has a good dragging and crank bait bite that time of year. Everts is more of a fishing resort (more substance over style) but the place is clean and the guy who runs the place is fantastic. I guess it really depends on what else your group wants to do besides fishing…

Good luck and have a great time!

I didn’t mention Everts because they ate my cookies.
