I’m guilty of buying cheesy, inexpensive rain gear. You know how long it lasts, until I touch the first sharp object. What do you use, recommend. Time I bought the real thing.

Cabela’s Guidewear, I have both the insulated and non insulated and both are unsurpassed in my opinion.

Personally I would go with uninsulated Cabelas guidewear , or if your a cold blooded person then get the insulated. I use an uninsulated set for summer fishing and fall/spring and winter I wear my snosuit. Keeps me warm and dry…

Northstar, glad to see you came to your senses. Whatever brand you buy here’s what I would reccommend If your fishing in colder weather, get yourself something insulated with Gore/Tex that’s waterproof. for warmer weather I would get some Frogg/ Toggs…..It’s just that simple…Good Luck

Guide Ware, I have the unisulated and use it year round. I was even wearing the bibs for snowmobiling with just a pair of sweats on under them. Under 0 temps I added my under armour and was never cold.

X2…I also have both the insulated and non insulated sets…very very nice clothing. It does just what it is supposed to do…keep you dry. If you’re looking for Winter toaster warm to sit on the ice…or in a boat on pool 4, then there is only one solution, the Frabil Snosuit. 2nd to none..

Cabela’s GuideWear – Uninsulated with the zip in fleece will keep upper body warm and underarmor under the bibs could handle most cold weather. The benefit is that you need only buy 1 set of gear and use it year round. You’ll never hear anyone bad-mouth Guidewear – probably because it is about the most expensive rain gear – but it is also the best and performs as advertized. Maybe Cabelas should make Guidewear trucks and cars too. I wish my truck was the same quality as my rain suit.

I have two sets of Cabelas Signature Series one insulated and one not. I can`t stand cold weather, they have worked excellent for me. What I really like about them when needed there is a partial glove built in, so rain and cold dosen`t get up my sleeves when running.

I have the Cabelas guidewear uninsulated & the Gamehide Typhoon series. The guidewear is much lighter, which appeared to come with a price. I bumped up against a sunflower heater with the guidewear bibs & melted a hole in them immediately. I have done the same with the Gamehide stuff & it didnt leave a mark. There is a complete set of Gamehide currently listed here in XL & for $140 that price is tough to beat. I think I paid $180-$190 for Cabelas guidewear bibs alone. Guidewear is nice light weight stuff but I think the Gamehide being heavier & more durable lasting gets my vote even if you have to purchase them at full cost. Both great products, just depends on what you might get yourself into. Just my $.02
