how often we take for granted our lives! fell off a roof Sat morning. As I refelect back I think how lucky I was I could have killed myself rather than just breaking an arm and my leg.It will keep me from the rest of ice fishing but will be back.

In my life of construction, I personally know of three people that fell off the roof while working on homes. Two are now quads, and one (which I witnessed) fell off the backside of a 2-story walkout, then jumped right back up and got back on the roof again. Not a scratch!
Consider yourself a very lucky man!

Gimp, Hope you a full and quick recovery!

Story time… When I was ~14, my dad had my brother and I putting tar and fiberglass tape on the ribs of an old quanset building to seal the joints. We used ropes tied off on the opposite side of the building to suspend ourselves down the sides of the roof. My rope was 1″ jute, but had a rotten spot somewhere within that gave way. Fortunately, I fell backwards through tree branches that slowed me down. I landed on a chisel plow just above the spade where it was mounted to the frame. These have a large spring with a bolt running through it to provide stress relief, were the spade to hit a rock.

Fortunately, all I got was a sore rear from the experience and a few bone chips in my tail bone. To this day, if I do sit-ups, the chips pinch me in the [censored] and remind me of that incident… I count myself as being very lucky.
