Hi guys. Im looking for some input on any places to stay on Kabetogama in July. The wife and 2 boys are coming along to see why I’ve been wanting to head up there to fish. We are not looking for the Ritz-Carelton, but would like something family oriented and clean. Our days will mostly be spent on the water chasing walleyes, but we’d like a nice place to kick back in the evening to wind down. Thanks.

I’ve stayed at the Ash Trail Lodge before. Nice place…only draw back is that it’s on the Ash River so it’s a 20 minute boat ride to get out to the lake. Other than that, it was great!! (We didn’t mind the boat ride, as it’s kind of relaxing)

Kab is my second home, and over the years I’ve stayed in most all the resorts there. My favorite is Pine Tree Cove Resort! Very clean, nicely updated cabins, quiet, small, extremely affordable, great protected marina with hookups, and the owners are very nice people. Check them out, but don’t delay because their cabins fill up year after year with repeat clients.

A couple of years ago we stayed at the Ash Trail Lodge also. The pluses were our cabin was nice, boat is docked out of the wind, food at the lodge was excellent, not far from the Ash River falls since we were having a hard time finding the walleyes in Kab. If I were to go again with adults only, I’d go back in a heartbeat. The only draw back, The lodge has a bar and the language many time wasn’t appropriate for kids ( it’s within hearing distance of where you eat), and until the bar closed, we were awakened every night by the customers either driving off or walking by our cabin many times relieving themselve by our bedroom window.)

My family have stayed at the Idlewild resort on Kab. Swimming pool and very nice and gratious owners. Type in the name and search for their link. You may want to check a past post on this also.

Ashkanam is a really nice place with great service. I stay there every year the week after opener. It too is on the Ash River.

I’ve stayed at Sunset Resort (also on Ash River) a couple of times. Nothing fancy but clean, quiet and reasonably priced.

We stayed at Tomahawk resort. The wife and kids LOVED the sand beach. The only complaint is the distance to the public boat launch but, we worked around that very easily.
