I had asked this a month or 2 ago, I have vista now and thinking of going to 7, the comment was to hold out for a bit for any updates to come out, any comments from the computor guru’s?

    Kirt,

I’ve been running Windows 7 since Microsoft first released RC1. After being thrilled with how the Release Candidate performed I purchased it. Currently on my laptop is Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, running flawlessly.

    I’d give it a go

I have been running a new Windows 7 machine for a little over a month and have had no issues so far. The system does seem to have a lot less stuff running in the background than the other Windows OS. I personally wouldn’t have upgraded if my old machine didn’t crash beyond repair, but I wouldn’t worry about too many bugs in Windows 7. I have been pleasantly suprised.

I have been running W7 myself for a little over a month and really like the ease of use…

I purchased a new laptop and desktop in Oct 2009 when Windows 7 was first released. We have been using PCs since the very first ones were built. So far, Windows 7 as been flawless for us — it is fast, extremely reliable, and easy to use. It helps that the hardware is also so much better than systems of just a couple of years ago.

If it was me I would do a fresh install and not an upgrade. Your machine will run much smoother. I dual boot XP and Win 7 but XP will be going soon. I can run XP in a virtual mode on Win 7 for the one legacy app that I have that will not run on Win 7.

Win 7 is a solid OS and you will be very happy with it.

i myself prefer to wait for the first service pack comes out, before upgrading to a new OS. with that said, Windows 7 has been very good so far though, so I would think its an OK risk to take at this point. unlike vista, which, even after SP2, i still will not run that OS…

and as far as the install process goes, i would buy the full version, backup your data to an external drive, and do a clean install.

if you have any questions on how to do this, just shoot me a PM, i can walk you through most of it pretty easily.
