My work Van is a 2004 Chevy 2500 cargo.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to take the side doors off?

There is a pin that looks like it is pressed into place on the door mounts. The mounts are welded on. Any tricks besides taking it in to replace the doors? I have a new set of doors for it. And I am getting really tired of freezing my buns off cause the dang side doors have to be bunjied shut.

    Thanks!

Are the hinges freezing or rusting up on it? My van does the same thing. Even had one fall off one time while opening the door. Tore the welded hing rite off. I had a guy replace the hinges with ones that have grease fittings. Think these are Ford hinges. My doors where fine. The hinges where crap.

No the hinges are fine but the doors have been abused and smashed one has a nice crease in it. I just need to figure out how to take them apart at the hinge without taking them off and re welding them.

Stop at the parts store, a body shop, or dealer and pick up a new set of pins and the brass bushings. Just drive the pins out with a punch on the old doors. Punch out and replace the bushings on the new doors, hang the new doors with new pins. There are a couple of different lengths on the pins, so if you can bring in your old ones to compare that would best.

Unless GM has changed the way they hang doors in the last few years it should use this system, otherwise stop at a body shop or a gm dealer and ask (if you buy the pins and bushings from them they should be more then happy to answere any questions).

Just remove the hinge pins, while someone or something supports the door and walla.

I work in a collision shop in eagen as a painter and our techs have replaced the hinges on almost all of master mech. vans. The techs usually end up heating the hinge up and driving the pin out with a air hammer. GM has new hinge kits out that need to be welded on and they finally pulled there heads out and now have grease zercs in the hinge so once replaced, couple shots of grease few times a yr and ur good! Might wanna check with ur local body shop and they can fix you up!

Check with a few body shops. It pays to shop around. Needed hinge pins done on my blazer. Quotes ranged from $125 to $400.
