well guys–last week and asked about when to say when–well my 14 yr old springer made it her call—I knew she was getting close to going–and yesterday I had the phone in my hand about 50 times ready to call Vet and have them put her down for me-but I just couldnt–she was too weak to stand on her own-that was just for one day-yesterday–so in afternoon I put her outside to soak up the warm sun and fresh air—she loved it–I could tell—eyes were restfully and relaxed–I brought her back in before got to cool out and laid her on her bed with 12 yr lab and petted her and talked til I couldnt stay awake anymore—woke up at 5am and she was gone—am glad I didnt make that call and glad she passed peacefully–I miss her already!!! she was part of the family—Here’s to Katie she was a great dog and thanks for all comments and replys

Sounds like Katie had a good life. I had two springers that were taken too early, it was horrible. Now a lab that is also 14 is nearing her end. I hope she can have a great moment like that at her time. Sorry for your loss.

You have our condolences, and if your like the wife and I, I can understand the grief you must be in, to us our pets were part of our family.

Having Katie pass during the night was at least a better way than having to go to the vet, something we have done 4 times and none of them went well.

May we be half the person our dog thinks we are.

I thought I heard dogs running and playing last night….. must have been Katie playing with my springer Mindy in a wonderful place, chasing critters and romping in the woods.

    My sympathies,

    Pete

Sorry to hear but consider yourself lucky in one respect. Having to make the decision and have them put down is even harder on a guy. Sounds like you already realize that and you are correct.

Sorry for your loss, but it sounds like it ended as best it could.

I have been currently lobbying the GF against putting her cat down. It’s such a difficult choice, having to make that call.
