    Yea or Nay?

Really hate to waste fish, and really hate to get stuck cleaning a couple at a time. There’s 3 frozen on my basement floor right now that I don’t want to deal with. Think I’m just gonna start taking a bucket of water out on the ice with me.

I’ve let all kinds of fish sit frozen for 3 or 4 days and then clean them. I soak them in a 5 gallon bucket inside for a few hours and clean them at my leisure.

    Not an issue at all.

Good,in the freezer they go then. I’m sure it will be more than 3 or 4 days but oh well, frozen is frozen right

I’m with Matt, I’ve let fish sit for a few days before cleaning, no problems here.

I’ve found that they make much better gravy if you let them hang a few days before cleaning

Freezing and then thawing them later is fine but expect a ton of slime. It doesn’t matter what the species is you will have a ton of slime.

Fine to do but not recommended from my point of view. I like my fish to be fresh fish. I think fish loses a bit of flavor once it has been frozen. Just yesterday I cleaned 10 perch most were still alive and they sure were tasty 3 hours after they were caught.

    X2

If you don’t feel like cleaning a catch, play catch and release

Well that’s fine and all in the summer time but after they lay on the ice for 4 hours all I’m releasing them too is the Eagles or the neighborhood cats.

It’s called a 5 gallon bucket and water.

Don’t take it the wrong way, if you are catching fish and keeping them, why not clean them when you get home? Especially if your talking leaving 3 lay around, what 5 minutes, 8 minutes top to get done? My bet is the longer they lay the more likely the become food for the neighbors cat anyways
Just my 2 cents worth….you need not like the answer

I’m a little disappointed it took so long for someone to say that, I was expecting that to be about the 3rd of 4th response
