Ice fishing stop between rochester & rainy lake??

I am taking a trip to Rainy lake next week and am planing on leaving next thursday but our guided trip on rainy is for friday and sat so we are looking for a place to stop and fish on the way to rainy lake that isnt too far out of the way. i was thinking of swinging over to leech lake but have never fished it and being such a large lake may be hard to figure out in a half day…. looking for any species of fish from pannies to pike or walleye if anybody can give me some idias i’d appreciate it!! thanks to everyone who can help

I wanted to recommend Pelican Lake but do not know where to get you started. I am thinking about stopping there on our way up to the Rainy Lake Houseboat/IDO GTG.
I hear that it is a fantastic fishery for all species.

Hey Drew……Don’t wear yourself out before our trip!! I need you healthy!! Pelican lake has some nice bassfishing, but it has been a longtime since I’ve fished it pal!!

I do not think that is possible.

i am about impossible to be worn out from fishing just ask any of my buddies that i bring fishing….. or my GF that still is waiting for the day i decide to do something other than fish….. everyday i have off i am fishing or on a very uncommon day i may take off from fishing to prepare to go fishing! If i am not fishing on a day off because of something like a wedding or broke down truck/boat i go crazy cant stand not being out fishing or hunting
