    Hello Everyone,

I am happy to be back to IDA after a rough 2009. I have really appreciated everyones help since joining the site, except for BK’s, just kidding, Love ya Brian . As some of you know I am in the process of training a service dog that will hopefully end up with someone with a disabilty who is more than likely in a motorized wheelchair. His name is Hudson and he just turned one year old yesterday. This guy is amazing and is constantly training learning and helping around the house.

I have a now 8 year old son and 10 year old daughter that are helping training with me and love it when he gets their mittens, hats, jackets, and boots off when they get off the bus from school. I don’t even want to start to tell you all of the things this guy can do.

He comes to work with me on Mondays now and is facinated with retrieving paper clips off the floor and bringing them right to your hand as you sit at your desk , this is something that usually comes later in the training with laundry and the like.

My offer to any IDA’er that lives in the metro area, (if you are outside a guided trip can be arranged in exchange) just kidding, Hudson needs to constantly learn and needs your help. If you are involved with an organization such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Church Groups, Big Brothers, etc… and you are looking for a neat opportunity to show young people how service dogs are invauluable to the people who receive them. I would be more than happy to see if I can help you out.

As I said Hudson is always learning and needs to be exposed to as many things as possible before he hopefully graduates in a year and a half. Unfortunately he is not allowed to be exposed to guns etc….. BK before you chime in, he does have to learn how to do laundry from start to finish using front loading washers and dryers. You have your FW and Dean down at Everet’s to take care of that for you He does not need to learn how to bake cookies unfortunately for Dean.

If any of you are ever looking for a neat opportunity to amaze a youth group or even an adult group I am more than willing to help. Just respond to this post or PM me and I will do everything in my power to make something work. Hudson needs to do as many things as possible in the next year and a half. I thought IDA would be a great place to help train this wonderful guy. Let me know as his schedule will fill up fast, not to mention mine now that I am healthy.

Thats great!!! If I did that, I don’t think I could give him up after spending that much time and getting that attached. Someone is going to be very lucky.

I am wondering why Training, Wheelchair, and Learning were automatically double underlined by the site. Maybe James has something set up specifically for BK

If you’re seeing anything underlined, you have a virus of some kind. IDO doesn’t automatically create hyperlinks out of keywords.

As for the dog and your dedication to the training… simply astounding.

Thanks James- Good to hear from you. I am on the kids computer from home and Lord knows what they have been into that we don’t know about Just thought it was a BK firewall of some kind. Let me know if you ever need Hudson for an event. I am more than happy to help promote the site, he does a great job astounding people.

My hat is off to you!

It’s wonderfully generous. To put that kind of time into a dog for someone else truly speaks to your character. Our boy, Floyd, is a therapy dog, but a service dog is on a whole nother level.

Let me talk to my sons BS troop on Monday and see if they are interested. Im sure they will be. Sounds like a great opportunity. If you want more groups to visit there are 3 or 4 more BS troops in the area that would most likely be happy top have you guys out to.

Great looking dog there. My wife and I have had the pleasure of caring for several different service dogs over the years and they are always great dogs to work with.
