The principle #’s are correct yet they still have 2 weeks of “fine tuning” the details of this monster contract. Bottom line is they have an agreement on the total and the years of the contract so…we got this guy for at least 11 more years! …RR

Contracts are like cheap glass…It’s easy to break…

I sure do hope Mauer is our Herbek and stays because he wants to stay…to many players follow the money..

But it’s out of control and the problem will not be fixed over night…

I just choked on a huge dip of the Grizzly. He will be a WAY over paid D.H. in the years to come! I love the Twins but WOW! I guess tickets are going to be just as bad as the Wild in their new Stadium!!

it has been reported that the contract extension is not correct, and that there offers being worked on, but nothing will be decided until more then likely spring training.

$22 million is cheap in this day and age of baseball. Also need to keep in mind that the first several years will contain a no trade but that will be waived at some point.

In any event barring injury we are dealing with the best catcher and maybe the best player in baseball for the next 5 years and then if he needs to change positions so be it.

As far as ticket prices it will be interesting to see what the average ticket price will be at the stadium.

It’s not a question of IF there will be a contract, only a question of when.

This is one kid the Yankee’s and Red Sox will not get a sniff of.

Whoops, that’s the problem with posting from my phone. No spell check and I don’t double check much because it is a pain to just type it in, much less try and edit it in the text box before posting.

I can’t believe the team itself wouldn’t be much better off trading him to the Yankees or Boston. It would open up a bunch more salary cap, we could ask just about anything for him and the overall game plan that has been working to this point isn’t disrupted by one guy’s salary. Seems like the right business move to me.

They do get to smell his RBI’s once in awhile! Way to go Joe for sticking around.

I always hoped he would stay. He seemed like the kind of guy who would stay. But you just never know. I can’t wait until I go to the new park in April. I hope there is a snow storm or it is cold. That’s one of the knocks people have on the outdoor stadium, but being out in crazy weather is part of it. It makes it fun and memorable. Wisconsinites I am sure can vouch for that.
