I had an H2OC with the Lakemaster chip. Loved it for about 2 years. Suddenly it no longer locates position. I have heard others have had the same problem.
January 26, 2010 at 6:55 pm #836635I picked up the iFinderH2O this year and am finding it really useful. Mine is able to pick up a signal in my house. Locates its position on the ice within a few seconds after its powered up. I use the navionics chip in mine and the page refresh takes a second or two. It sure does help me get right over the cribs and get right back to the way points I mark. It has been very easy to use so far and I have had no problems with the unit. Hopefully I have a few years before I have to worry about the signal issue in the prior post. I give it
January 26, 2010 at 7:00 pm #836638I like mine a lot but it does seem to take a long time updating from the Nav chip. I have not checked for any updates and maybe that could help. I am also running a 2007 chip that could use an update so I am not sure if the newer chips run any better or just an issue with the H20,

Software Version 1.5 was released on 1-15-2007. (H2O only)
How to see if your iFINDER H2O is already using version 1.5.0 software:
Press the MENU button twice on your iFINDER H2O.
Select SYSTEM SETUP.
Select SOFTWARE INFORMATION.
The software version for your unit is located under the line that says “iFINDER H2O” (ex. “Version 1.5.0”).
If your version is the same version listed above, there is no need to download the software.Link to update if needed.

I have the H2Oc and never go fishing without it.
If you can I would get the color model. The newer LakeMaster
chips have shaded contours so you’ll get to utilize
this feature. (They are probably shaded on the H2O as well
but just not as pretty as in color)I have seen some great deals on the H2Oc recently.
They do eat the batteries so get some rechargeables or
use the Lithiums.Hotrod2Posts: 39January 26, 2010 at 7:59 pm #836665I have the HuntC gps.
Been using it for about 3 years now. started out as a great unit but now it takes forever to pic up satelites…i have to turn it on before heading up north and sometimes it will not pick them up. have had days when it will not pick up satelites at all. Also have a couple buddies that have the H2O’s for a couple years that have the same problem.
If anyone knows how to fix this problem, please let me know.
Also, the power cord for these units are junk!
January 26, 2010 at 8:10 pm #836672i have the color version. its nice. plus they have excellent customer service you should need them.
the only knock i have on the unit is the battery life is really short. and its insanely short if you leave the backlight on. use a power cord if you are able to.
Hotrod2Posts: 39January 26, 2010 at 8:23 pm #836679Excellent customer service? Lowrance?
I have emailed them 6 times about the problem i have with their product since around November 1st…never a reply. I have called them 3 times only to be put on hold for a half hour before hanging up.
January 26, 2010 at 8:40 pm #836684I’ve had an H2O since they came out. Mine still works pretty well considering the abuse it’s taken. Dropped on the ice about 500 times, soaked by big waves from Green Bay and rain etc… It does have a black line through the screen now though.
It doesn’t pick up signal in the vehicle, but I have no problems outside. Also I recently lost the screen cover, but it does still work. I’m probably buying a H2OC if I ever see them go on sale. The Lakemaster Chip in that unit is the only way to ice fish IMO.
January 26, 2010 at 10:07 pm #836728Just purchased a new H20C from Reeds in Walker. $249, no shipping or tax and it came w/ a 12V adaptor.
January 26, 2010 at 11:52 pm #836767Just saw cabelas club has them on sale for 199.00. You have to be a visa members club but for the money, you wont find a better unit. Great unit but it does eat batteries and as any handheld unit, in poor conditions it may take a little time to lock on to satellites in substandard conditions. Basements and dense fog makes it tough.
January 26, 2010 at 11:52 pm #836768Cabelas closed out there H2OC’s for $169 bucks brand new. Too bad they don’t have any more or I would of bought an extra one for that price. Lowrance is no longer making the iFinder handhelds (I think).
January 27, 2010 at 12:02 am #836770Great reviews guys This site is so valuable because of everyone. Thanks alot for the information. Hope the customer service things works out for those who need it.
January 27, 2010 at 2:53 pm #836945My H2O has been fantastic but my next one will likely be a Garmin. Partly because of the customer service thing but mostly because their replacement for the iFinder is in some ways inferior to the original product. Now that Garmin accepts Lakemaster, I’m in. Or should I say, I’m back.
