People say courage, guts, grit wow Brett came back in when no one else would have. Thats because he puts himself above the team. more than once in his career he has hurt his team by not coming out when he should have, yes the vikes would not have been at the game with t-jack but if farve would have put his ego aside and done what was in the best interest of the team a healthy t-jack may not have had the same turnovers an injured farve did I also remember him saying before the season started that anything short of the sb would be a dissapointment and a failure, I guess he failed.

I just love listening to Paul Allen when the wheels fall off the bandwagon
January 26, 2010 at 12:01 am #836280A little good humor and ribbing is great but some of you people sound like your about to come to blows.
It’s a game! The sun will come up tomorrow. Packers, Vikings,Bears Whoever.Just enjoy it all. They will play again next year anad the year after. No reason to get all bent out of shape. Lots of things going on in this world are much more important!
January 26, 2010 at 12:18 am #836282Thank you Steve I could not agree more!

Leave big g alone, he’s fragile right now.

#2. another option would be to just give the other team a possession. you kick the ball off and see what happens.
I figured out a problem with this. Say a team scores then the next team who is trying to tie it is in 4 down mode. They get an extra down every 1st down because punting is not an option.January 26, 2010 at 1:33 am #836312I like how you Queens fans say you were the better team and that you outplayed them….what criteria are you useing to come to this conclusion? Yards gained? Well you can scratch that idea otherwise you’d have to admit the Packers are better than the Vikes this year. In both games against the Vikes the Pack outgained them in total offense….the Pack, just like the Vikes yesterday, didn’t take care of the ball. Good teams rise to the top and the Vikes are not a good team. IMHO one of the luckiest teams this year, hands down. Without lightning striking a few times this year they are probably the number 6 seed.
If you guys are claiming the better team by yards gained….we want our 2 wins back GO Saints!!! Beast representative the NFC could’ve asked for!January 26, 2010 at 1:47 am #836318I heard something on the radio tonight, said by of all people… a PLAYBOY Bunny… she said that the Saints had their as s handed to them.. along with the game I am not fragile, just wounded Kool-Aid for everyone… there is always next year.. well said Steve

I watch a LOT of football, and for the most part I stay out these ‘football’ posts. With that said, I double dog….no….I QUADRA-dog dare you to validate that comment….
January 26, 2010 at 2:14 am #836330BTW…..here’s the truth behind the 2nd match-up between the Vikings & the Packers.
Vikings Team Stats
Total Net Yards 355
Penalties Yards 3-29
Time of Possession 27:28
Total Turnovers 2Opponent Team Stats
Total Net Yards 351
Penalties Yards 6-45
Time of Possession 32:32
Total Turnovers 3I’d say the better team won this game.
January 26, 2010 at 2:31 am #836338X2 Blue!
I was at that game and every Packer fan was throwing McCarthy and Thompson under the bus. Later in the season, they thought their master plan was right on.
Talk about bandwagon fans!

January 26, 2010 at 2:39 am #836344This is all becoming some pretty dicey stuff…. I think we need to step back, analyze the situation and move in real close…….And have a group “HUG”.. peace , love, dove kids…
January 26, 2010 at 2:54 am #836350These threads are half the fun of the season…. I love the “friendly” banter… I feel I have gotten to know people like Chomps, SteveO, Bigpike, Garvi and even Targaman better this year The funny thing is, if we met on a lake, we have so much in common, from fishing to football, we could probably talk for hours like old friends. I like to think that anyway.

I think they should still be thrown under the bus.
January 26, 2010 at 3:53 am #836382I have no dog in this fight, but from what I saw the Vikes coaching staff choked. The Vikes should have won it in regulation even with the dropsies and the INTs. 12 men on the field for a 5-yd penalty and terrible, conservative play-calling by the Vikes when they got it near the 30 yard line. Yea, Brett choked at the end, but they had the Saints on the ropes and they let them off the hook on first and second down at the end of regulation. I guess there’s a lot of blame to go around, but that was a sorry azz ending to regulation. I was rooting for you guys to make it to the big game. Sorry it didn’t happen guys. Good season anyway.
January 26, 2010 at 5:24 am #836407I can’t believe anyone would say the Vikes or Pack where not good teams this year. I thought the playoffs were the place the good teams ended up??? Silly me I guess.
I think for all you haters, what might make it a little easier to understand would be a different explanation of what we saw in the game. Minnesota’s “D” pretty much stiffled the vaunted Saints scoring machine after the nerves settled in the first half. N.O. “D” was marginally effective in stopping the Vikes. If you put these same teams on a neutral field and played fifty times, the Vikes would win 35 times or so.
That being said, I will be pulling hard for the Saints to win their first Super Bowl. I think their chances are slim, but I will generally pull for the team that took my team out. No bitterness of jealousy, like seems to be rampant in some fanbases…..

thanks for the off line help with some cylindered machine problems I was having. your advice saved me beaucoup $$.
Much appreciated!
Having my guts ripped out by a late Favre interception back in the 2007 NFC championship game gives me a certain amount of empathy with what you are going thru. Or the 2004 divisonal playoff game against Philly or the 4 pick perfomance of said Favre against St Louis a few years back. Too numerous to mention. I will say this: Favre get way too much of a pass on his ignorant decisions. What if a McNabb throws that? He’d be ripped to shreds. Not Bert, the old gunslinger. That was one of the stupidest decisions he’s ever made. He will do it time and time again. He’s proven that.January 26, 2010 at 6:34 pm #836620Quote:
I am glad that they showed up to play. You can’t win a game when you turn the ball over that many times.
We won’t see that again for a long time unless we can find a good QB.
What a great season!
Does Favre retire?
or running back.

That may be, but no matter how you look at it the winner won and the loser lost, I am not trying to put a label on any team, but you have to win to go to the next round of the play offs. True Minnesota racked up more yards but their down fall was their give aways, they need to learn how to stop doing that. I was rooting for Minn and got let down, I am used to that since I am a KC fan.
In a couple weeks I will be rooting for the Colts.

Blue you might want to add them up yourself apparently the Vikings don’t know how to use a calculator. Here this is even off the Vikings website add them up….. 287 yards passing for Rodgers plus 3 for Matt Flynn equals 290 yards passing add that together with their rushing yards….which was 90 that equals 380 yards total offense not 351. Both websites agree to these numbers.
And reguarding my opinion on the Vikes being the luckiest team. If you didn’t see it was IMHO and that is I never saw Minnesota play consistant all season…..I saw oh a….basically hail mary….to win a game…..oh their kicker missed it we win……oh Jared Allen is going up against a rookie and tearing him up…but wait in the 2 meetings A Rod throws for almost 700 yards…….what do you suppose would’ve happened had he had time? Yes injuries happen all teams deal with them………but I think the Vikes got “lucky” that we had to field a rookie……I honestly think one if not both games have a different out come ………and yes we will never know……you guys won and that’s fine I can deal with that. What I can’t deal with is hearing how good the Vikes were…….what good team did they put away handily? and they struggled against some bad teams. Not the signs of a good team……a team that the football bounced left when it needed to bounce left. What would’ve happened if the ball bounces right for you a couple times……you finish 10-6 maybe! And go on the road the whole playoffs….and we all know how the Vikes played on the road this year. I’m just saying that they didn’t impress me like a possible superbowl contender should. I just think they were fortunate to be in the position they were in…..and that there sir is IMHO
