Yesterday I stopped at the new Bass Pro Shop in Altoona, Ia. Very nice. Has a bowling alley, billards room, party room and bar/resturant. All the employees were very nice and very helpful. If you are in the area, be sure and check it out.

That sounds like a great place. I sure wish the Mall of America rumor would come to fruition.

the store is great…the knowledge of it’s staff needs a lot of work…everytime i’ve asked a question looking for a specific fishing item in that place, NO ONE knows what i’m talking about…

Both employees that I had questions for were great and more than helpful. Also didn’t act like they were in a hurry and didn’t have time to talk.

Maybe we need to lobby BPS to find another location in Minnesota, “If you build it, We will come!”

    Agreed
Lets see what will happen after they re-open the Crystal Piers Marine stores that are owned by Bass Pro, 6 out of 8 are owned by Bass Pro. Get ready to see more Nitro and Tracker boats in the upper midwest.

    From what I am hearing:
The sad thing is they, Bass Pro, is only planning on selling their line of boats not much of anything else of their line of merchandise at those locations.

The Altoona store is a great store. I would love to see one in built in the twin cities area for my Minnesota friends. I have really enjoyed working with Bass Pro for the last 3 years now. They have some great products and great prices too.

Sadly I just assume anymore that I know more than the people working in these types of stores and just consider it a bonus if someone can actually help me. I do like the Bass Pro down there though. I just wish it was like it was years ago where Bass Pro and Cabelas had good prices on items rather than just selling everything at the suggested retail price on everything. I live about an hour from the Altoona store and really don’t see myself getting down there more than maybe once a year.
