I have the hb 788ci unit. It is the best unit I have ever used. I have never used a lowrance or eagle unit though. I have the navionics chip in it and it has really helped me find and catch more fish.

What is price for the hb 587? I see it doesn’t display water temp. Do you have another unit that displays this? The water temp is the first thing I look at when I get in the boat. Just something to think about if you don’t already have it covered. Good luck

I have the Eagle unit, and am very happy with it. I actually started using it for ice fishing as well, and can easily see small jigs in 30 ft. of water. I see that Cabelas has them for $349.00 right now……….that is a GREAT price. Don’t know anything about the HB.

the retail price for the 587ci is about $479-$549 depending on whether or not u get the 587 or 597 and from what i can see they are both about the same. they both offer water temp and i have found a 587ci for about $330 dollars. seriously considering it. glad to hear the good news about the 788 cuz i was looking at that too!

i noticed that unit for $349 at cabelas but then i found out that it is a returned bargan cave item. i was told eagle is being discontinued in 2010 or 2011 so that makes me a little skeptical. looks like a nice unit though?

The 587 looks like a great unit. I was just looking on the hb site and it has everything the 788 has. You can get a nav/lm chip for it and you off and runnin. Either way you go you would be happy with an hb. The other thing I love about the hb is the quick disconnect mount. I take mine off when I’m not using it. If you stop somewhere you don’t have to worry about the theives nabbing it.
