I’ve decided St. Cloud State is to much trouble and it’s hard to succeed when all there is to do is drink beer… haha… but anyways lets get to the point. Who here fishes Bemidji Lake? And what areas are good walleye producers?

I’ve fished it for two FLW events in recent years and have had a great time. Really nice walleye, great perch, lots of pike and quality muskies. I’m jealous of the people who live right there and have regular access to that body of water!

You will be very close to leech, winni, cass, and Red just to mention a few..Brrrmidgi is a great central location to a ton of great lakes….I would also try to concentrate on panfish as well… Have fun trying to stay in school if you have these great resources around you…sounds like a tough decision, beer or fishing?????

Consider Winona or UW- LaCrosse as well.

what are you majoring in? fishing? or do you actually attend class? and that’s not being smart, its a legit question..

I try to get up there to fish Lake Bemidji at least once a year – it’s a great lake in my opinion. It is much smaller than some of the other nearby walleye factories and a good multi-species lake as Jason mentioned. It’s worth the trip! I mostly chase the walleye and the occasional ski.

    Good luck to you

well considering I am Transfering I do have good grades and attending class is a must in order to get them. I just want to be able to get outta cloud and experience being farther away from home and in an area that I’ll enjoy very much.

well the river is within spitting distance of either campus. walleyes,, pike.. bass.. you want muskies.. the Black river is within 20 miles..

UW-L is a highly decorated college.. Winona is a good school..

if you want to be a teacher, or business or biology.. they are tough to beat..

    food for thought.

oh.. and I came here and fell in love in 1972.. one walleye trip and I was 16.. and I made up my mind.. my whole junior and senior year.. I knew I was coming here.. and I was lucky that they took idiots back then.. THEY DON”T NOW..

The river is the siren that can’t be silenced. she makes love to you on a daily basis. and she has had me since the first 10 minutes that I was in town..
and that is a true statement.
if you want it.. its all here.. ALL OF IT. there is no finer fishing. and the schools are ones that you can be proud to be from, FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.
oh and my friends from my first year here in LaCrosse are still my friends to this day.. since the fall of 1975..

and that too, is a true statement. and I would do almost anything for them and they would do the same for me..

I wish you well in your decision and choice.. this is food for thought.. another suggestion.. and just that..

I hope that you find what you want..

Thanks Old Rat for the info but Bemidji is a life long dream, I already made one mistake by not going there for the fall semester and I have many good friends up there and it just seems that the area is Gods country. nothing better than a good school, and lakes to fish on while learning.

I came up here to go to school in the mid 80’s and I am still here. Let me tell you it is hard to keep your mind on class when all these lakes are calling your name. There are lakes that will allow you to fish just about any fish you want. Some are large and some are very small.

Lake Bemidji itself is a fishery that has a ton of structure and can be very good to fish just about any time of the year. In the spring and fall you can fish it from shore with some very good results.

I attended BSU for one year and transferred to St. Cloud to finish up. If you have the vehicle and the gear to get out and about you will love BSU. If you don’t Bemidji in the middle of the winter is Hell. You will want to drink!

There is very little fishing in the State of Minnesota better than available right on the Campus of St. Cloud State. The Mississippi River there is a great fishery.

Ya I plan on checking out the river as soon as spring comes near. I’ve heard the dam by university is pretty good, i’ve also heard the cats are right under university bridge. That could make some fun fishing.

Bemidji is a great school, what do you plan on studying? dont forget about all the great small lakes in the area too, it’s awesome to be able to fish a 400 acre lake for an entire day and not see another person
