Gilbert Arenas brought 3 guns into his locker room. Allegedly unloaded, but who knows for sure. This is a public building where you are allowed to bring your family to a NBA basketball game.

In your mind is this any different then Plaxico Burress and his gun episode?

Would you lock him up like Plaxico?
    Should the NBA suspend him?
    For how long?

Is this just another instance of a Hip Hop, gun toting, tattooed professional athlete being better then the rest of the human race?

    Lets hear your opinions.

I don’t know the state laws in D.C. I know they are strict. If he is licensed to carry them, then nothing should happen from the law’s perspective. Unless the building he took the gun into prohibits weapons(I hope he fights this if he is licensed).

Sounds like the team attempted to cover this up and lots of people are likely to lose their jobs.

The fact him and his teammate drew unloaded weapons on each other was really quite ironic. I’m all for weeding out the gene pool of fools and thug wanna bees.

To many details are missing to form much of an opinion at this point.

I say, if these guys want to pretend to be thugs, let’s give them a chance. Let’s put them in East LA, or Compton and announce it on the news that a pro athlete who thinks he’s a really bad dude and has multi millions of dollars is coming to show how bad he is.

I think that this kind of behavior is becoming more and more socially acceptable. I’m sure if I brought an unlicensed gun into my work and started waving it around, I’d be fired immediately and probably arrested to boot. How about you?

The actions of these stars is absolutely absurd, and I for one would love to see swift severe action, fines, and loss of wages to make an example out of these fools. I’m not talking for a few games, how about a few years. Take away 10 million a year for 2-3 years, and that should get some attention.

This isn’t a gun debate, it’s a common sense thread.

Common sense would dictate if I were a muli-millionair ball player on the road all the time, I’d want my guns near…..and loaded!

Would you also say that common sense would dictate you pointing said gun at a coworker?

No. But I do think the only reason this makes news is 1. He is a rich ball player and 2. He is black. If I point an unloaded gun at someone, you would never hear about it!

Maybe the PC Wizards are trying to reclaim the old bad-[censored] “Bullets” name?

My question is “Why would you have an unloaded gun with you anyways???” An unloaded gun is a rock. Why not just bring in a rock and put it in your locker?

Million dollar question is: How do we KNOW it was not loaded? Because he said so?

Hey, Reverend Al and Reverend Jesse are getting in on this, and they are not coming down on “Gilby’s” side. It’s about time they say something other than “what can you do for me?”!!! Who knows, maybe there is something they are after…… Wouldn’t surprise me

Jock sniffers on ESPN said this morning that the good players don’t carry “security”, it’s only the wanna-beeees that do. Most NBA players don’t have to associate with the public in bad environments unless they want to. In that case, leave your “bling” at home and carry a gun, with a legal permit. I’m guessing that most of the ones that find it necessary to “pack” probably couldn’t make it through the background check.

If he doesn’t have the proper permits for the guns, which I doubt, he should spend time in the slammer. Maybe in the same cell as Plaxico. They can compare notes on just how dumb they are.

If the NBA doesn’t suspend him for at least the rest of the season, they’re just enablers…..My .02

No jail of course. And while Buress got totally hosed because of some ignorant law makers in New York the comparison between the two is still ridiculous.

If I was making 100’s of millions of dollars I’d carry a gun just about any place possible.

I have a ton of respect for Carl Malone! But there is a statement there where he and I part company:
But if I were a gun dealer and somebody walked in and said, “I want this for protection,” I don’t know if I would sell it to that person, because that person’s only thinking about another confrontation. The people who get threatened or cut off in their car and think about their guns are the people who don’t need a gun. My grandfather, Leonard Jackson, once told me, “Karl, remember this, son: If you ever pull a gun, be prepared to fire that gun, because the person you pull that gun on has every right to pull a gun on you.” He told me that when I was 6 and I didn’t even have a gun yet.

First off, if a dealer does not want to sell to you because of how “He” feels, he is no better than someone telling me I do not deserve a gun. If my wife or girlfriend wants a gun for “Protection”…she is getting the training…and a gun. And lastly….you should not be pulling a gun on ANYONE if you don’t intend on looking down on their dead body.

Of course it is. And nowhere is it more prevalent than in the nba (No Basketball Allowed, Nothing But A*******, etc etc).

Just another example of what a pud D Stern really is. What a wimp. (last time I heard, nothing had been done about it yet, but I don’t care enough to follow it, either)

Trust me or anyone else you says it: if ‘reverend’ al and jesse are involved, there’s definitely something in it for them, that’s just the way it is. That’s about as obvious as how a black lab gets its name.

Stern showed his true colors last night when he allowed Arenas to play even after he admitted he violated NBA rules about guns in “the work place”. Then he had the nads to say, in an interview later, that Stern was a “mean person”.

Sounds like Gilbert may be finished. He has been suspended without pay and the wizards already sound like they are looking for somewhere to redistribute his salary towards new player(s) and building in the future.
