Winter sucks so my wife and rented a Condo near Gulf Shores Alabama for the month of February. The unit has a boat slip on the inland waterway so I’ll ptobably pull a boat and try some in-shore fishing. Has anyone been there? I’m looking for some general advice. I’m a bass nut but it looks like most of the good bass fishing water is about 200 miles away so I’ll have to learn a new game. Any help will be welcome.

See about renting a kayak for fishing. Mobile Bay is a yak fishing paradise.

    John,
if you are anywhere near the Gulf, there should be plenty of Red fish around the shorelines or channel ways.
I don’t know if they have seasonal movements or not, but should be easy to find out.
    Lucky guy.

Have never been to Alabama fishing but am still a little jealous of not getting to go someplace warm this winter. Just looking at a map of the area I bet there are some pretty good inshore fishing going on. Looks like a lot of inshore waters to be looked at.

TBO is hanging out down in that area this winter. Think he left a few weeks ago. Sounds like him and the wife and doing the snowbird thing in a RV park down there this winter. He was going to give me a call once he had a report to put up.

They just rebuilt the fishing pier at the State park try the end of it for Cobia, also Squid or Shrimp on the bottom will catch just about anything, Whiting will be biting of the beaches and the party boats will put you on grouper snapper. I had a blast down there visiting the Father in Law

    http://www.marksoutdoors.com

go to the website and check out the fishing reports.

You will be close to Bill Henry which is the Alabama river just south of montgomery. but there is a very good place much closer.. I just can’t remember the name off hand.

its a “springs” I believe.. You will be close to the tom biggby river as well. and the lower Coosa river.

if you get a chance to fish JORDAN which is just above Montgomery.. you will have a chance for the TROPHY SPOTTED BASS OF YOUR LIFE.. I mean a 5 or 6 or 7 lber.. and trust me catching a spot like that.. You will be addicted. and you wont be too far from Seminole either. although its on the far east side of the state.. but within a two hour drive there will be bass to fish. Heck you will be close to the bayou where the classic was as well.

and trust me on your way to Gulf Shores YOU WANT TO GO TO MARKS.. TRUST ME.. TRUST ME TRUST ME.. meet Mark or his dad.. Tell him who you are ..spend a couple of bucks.. which will be extremely easy..

Mark WILL HAVE ANY NEW PRODUCT RIGHT NOW.. anything from the TRADE SHOW THAT WE WONT SEE UNTIL March or April or May around here. and he will have stuff to use right in the store..

    but use his site..

another site http://www.al.com and then go to the sports and then to the outdoors..

I have been going to Alabama since the 1980’s.. alot..

let me know what else you need.
