I’m back from college till the 11th and im wondering where’s a good lake to head too not to far from the NW suburbs. i’ve been going to west rush lately catching lots o crappies but where are the eye’s at? would i have to fish in the deep holes or off some nice drop-offs? any good advice would help.

    thanks

I WOULD GIVE WHITE BEAR LAKE A TRY FOR SOME DECENT NUMBERS OF EYES. WORK THE SAME STUFF YOU ARE TRYING BUT BE MOBILE. DRILL ALOT OF HOLES AND WORK UP AND DOWN THEM BREAKS AND DURING THE MID DAY DONT FORGET TO GIVE THE FLATS AROUND THE BREAKS A WHIRL. HOPE THAT MIGHT HELP A LITTLE. ALSO I WAS ON A COUPLE OTHER LAKES LAST WEEK INCLUDING GREEN AND CHISAGO AND GOT A FEW EYES WHILE FISHING PAN FISH. GOOD LUCK

IF YOU DONT HAVE A GPS AND A LAKEMASTER CHIP THEN POINTS ARE ALWAYS A GREAT PALCE TO START.

I don’t have any starting spots for you but I wouldn’t overlook Minnetonka or Buffalo, especially if you’re from NW suburbs.

There are a bunch of lakes that get plenty of stocking around the metro. Tonka, Buffalo, or Independence all have eyes and would be good close lakes for the NW metro. I would look for a weedline close to deep water with some sort of bend. The DNR website has lake maps and stocking data, plus sampling data. Good luck!
