My gal and I are thinking we would like to head somewhere other than Pool 4 in April for a week. We’ve both done the Mexico and Key West thing and are thinking of South Padre. Anyone know or have any experiences with any resorts down there?
    Thanks in advance!

I can’t speak from personal experiences, but I have a client which I talk to every spring when he gets back from renting an apartment on Mustang Island, right next to Padre. He said it’s not so over-run with tourists, more of a relaxing atmosphere, and the restaurants are cheaper, no advice on a resort, but he sure catches a bunch of fish on the shrimp he nets every morning. (on his 16 foot boat)Sounds like something I’d like to try.

Padre Island National Seashore officials have recommended that visitors do not bring their dogs to the park until further notice. Coyotes and dogs have recently become sick and/or died, possibly caused by brevetoxin accumulation from eating fish that had washed up on the beach from the red tide. More information is available on the PINS website.

I’m camped on Indian Point on Matagorda bay right now and a friend just came back from there with out staying because the park service warned him that it still might not be a good idea to have his dog with. I guess you can even track this stuff into your camper, house, what ever, on your shoes.

My parents took us when we where around 16 and 17 years old and I myself didn’t care for it. But we went before spring break and not during. So a lot of things weren’t open there. they mostly cater to the spring breakers. I don’t think I’ll go back. I’ve had way better sea food, better fishing, and more fun else where.

i stayed there one night before heading to a mexican lm bass trip. didn’t care for it. it was in February. it was sort of a ghost town. crappy hotel and the bars stunk too. i wouldn’t recommend it.

i’ve got friends that go to St Thomas USVI. they think it is the best. US currency and everyone speaks english.
