    I did earlier today. Oh… my….

My head is still spinning. I was vibrating when I came outside after it was over. Some of the reviews point to a weak story. I thought it was really quite good and the special effects cannot be described in words. I know many will wait for it to go to DVD but this is one that must be seen in the theaters and if possible in 3D to truly appreciate it.

Two thumbs up from this guy.

The very first words out of Cheryl’s mouth as we stood up were… “we’re going again.”

Anyone get motion sickness? I heard this could be an issue…

I could see how this could be an issue. Cheryl takes motion sickness pills when she flies, takes long car rides and in the past she’s taken them when she’s going to movies when she knows there will be a lot of camera movement. This time she didn’t take any meds and she was fine throughout.

I can see how someone would get sick though. My whole body buzzed when I left the theater.

Where is there a Imax theater James. We say it at the local theater and I walked out saying wow. That was something else. How do people even think up stuff like that.

Thanks James, looking forward to seeing it in 3D myself. They did the 3D different then before so it wouldn’t make you sick. They said it’s some kind of new way of doing it to draw you into the movie and not have it come out at you. The story and effort behind the movie is pretty cool.

My question, is it too overwhelming? My wife and I saw the human body at the science museum’s Imax. We were amazed but it felt like we saw only a portion of the film. We were like, in kind of a sensory overload afterwards and then wanted to see it on a regular screen to see what we missed. How ’bout you?

I think the closest to you would be the one in St. Michael on Hwy. 241 and I-94.

We went to Southdale 16 in Edina. 3D Imax. They had two regular theaters showing, if memory serves, and one 3D theatre . When we asked the kid selling tickets if it was worth seeing it in 3D he almost bust with enthusiasm… we could hardly get him to shut up about how cool it was so we could move out of line… lol

We also saw it at a 3-D theater in Rochester and thought the special effects were nothing less than awesome. For us it was great entertainment.

Theater? Imax 3d? Up here in Northen Minnesota we don’t even have a theater…heck most of us don’t even have a TV. (P.S I really dont have TV, so its no laughing matter)((ok maybe it is))

Sounds like that will have to be on the list of things to do in the big city, seen the previews and it looks like a good flick.

“I see you”. No, not you James!

One the way back from Hutch, we stopped in at the Southdale Theater. I’m glad I bought my tickets on line as three showings were sold out.

Had the FW sitting on the edge of here seat at one point and grabbing for some seeds. I had a bad seat because the ferns kept getting in my way.

    Good entertainment.

Ok, so I just got home from checking out the flic at the Zoo IMAX.

Visually it was the most stunning movie I have ever seen and that is where it ends.

Aside from breathtaking special effects, the movie is a big pile of dog poo.

First and foremost, the movie is about 1.5 hrs too long. It dragged and dragged. Those fight scenes at the end were just utterly brutal.

Cameron has done the same thing over and over again. There is a scene with a monster tree toppling over. Replace the tree with a big ship and you have Titanic. I swear it was even the same background music.

And lastly, the political undertones made me sick to my stomach. We all need to be green, save the planet, blah blah blah. Healthcare coverage isn’t good enough to fix the guy in a wheelchair. In fact I remember a direct quote from the star of the movie in which he said, “The sky people got rid of green in their home and they are about to do the same here”.

I say go see it for an hour and then go home. I wish I would have.

I know a good percentage of people feel exactly as you do… the story crossed a line with the preachy undertones. Or were they overtones? A couple friends we went with hated it. I found a way to not let the story get in the way.

A friend of mine said … while he was waiting all those years for the technology to catch up you think he would have worked on the script.

As a guy that does entry level editing… that movie flat out blows my mind. It will be interesting to see my reactions to it the second time around.

Looking at other reviews, I’m in the minority for sure, and I’m usually not like that.

It’s just that this has been done already for a lot less money and the Natives didn’t have to be made blue (Dances with Wolves).

A different story line could have very well made this the greatest film ever and like I said, the first hour I was in complete awe.

I guess if they made the storyline such that war, killing and destroying the environment was a glorious thing, then it would have better pleased some folks. I am sure that version would have also been great entertainment with the 3-D special effects.

It is just a fiction movie meant to entertain — and it did that for many of us. It is nice to sometimes just forget about political undertones and enjoy a movie.

We saw it last night at an Imax in Madison.
Awesome! It was so good, I would see it again.

Definitely one of those flicks that needs to be seen in 3D.

Couldn’t agree more, and I really wish Hollywood would stop trying to tell us we are all bad.

This was undoubtedly the best 3D movie I have ever been too! The entire movie, not just a “hey, put your glasses on here’s a 3D scene” NO, this was nicely done. While he (Cameron) won’t and shouldn’t get an Oscar for ‘best movie’, he certainly may for special effects-as it rocked And as for just good entertainment- – cause that’s what it was supposed to do and did.(and I thought the blue 9ft babe was kinda hot)
