hey, well i always go to the sport shows, and one thing that i really enjoyed was the fishing pond thing. where you fish for the trout and keep it too. well as an hmong member i want to do this too in the hmong annual sports tournament and events. now i found some fish farm near by that do sell trout.

the question now for you guys is, what are the requirements to make this legal in MN. and where do i start to obtaining all the proper documentations if i need any to do this fun activity. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks and i look forward to all your answers.

I’d start with a call/email to MN DNR

I looked into it myself for my pond behind my house. I however wanted it for myself. I asked the DNR about it and they looked at it on a map and it was in the Whitewater watershed. After that they brought out all kinds of paperwork and rules and regs. The pond is spring fed but dry downstream so not trout would get any where. In the end I said screw it and will do it w/o the DNR.

Hopefully you will have better luck.

If that fails, shoot this person an email. They were in charge of the Ice Show in St Paul and there was a fishing pool there.
