I have the 10″ Lazer… Love the bigger hole, but it wears me out watching Bob dragging the thing around. I think the 8″ would be plenty in almost every situation, plus it is lighter for your buddies to carry around and punch holes for you to fish.

I have a 10 inch and absolutely love the fact that I can bring in a fish without having to remove the vexilar ducer, most the time anywayz. Also is great if you fish outside of a shack often as it takes longer to freeze up your hole.

You need to look at how you fish before you decide on the size. If you sit in a big house and are looking for your holes to stay open all weekend go with a 10″. If you drill a lot of holes where the weight of the auger may be a issue go with a 8 or smaller.

well… i will be out in a portable moving around some but not a lot that weight will really matter but one of the portables that i do have is a clam denali 4 man so i think i will be going with the 10 inch so the hole outside for the underwater camera stays open and the tip ups stay open also. Thanks for the input. Any other suggestions?

Did same thing and am very happy. But they do not sell new augers with a 9″ anymore you have to buy the bit or exchange it at Strikemaster.

10″ holes are great for in a permy maybe but ankle breakers and kid eaters out in the open. I know an 11 pound eye comes up an 8″ with room to spare and happy enough with that.

Ankle breaker sounds like what I was thinking too. I think ten inch holes are completely unnecessary unless you catch giant lakers or 40″ pike on a consistent basis. I get a little paranoid when running around ten inch holes. Would like to keep my shins intact.
