The plastic on Ratso lures

I’ve seen it hooked up a couple of ways,…along the shank “straight” and a little bit around the bend “crooked”. Is there a reason for each? i.e. more action on one way? active vs inactive fish?

    Thanks

Are you possibly talking about the difference between the ratso and shrimpo?

The shrimpo is a vertical hanging lure, and has more curve in the bait-

The ratso is a horizontal hanging lure, where everything is straight…

First pic is ratso, second pic is shrimpo-

Sometimes the fish want a vertical hanger, and sometimes they want horizontal. I carry both, and let the fish tell me what they want!!

How you hook the plastics on the hook is like what Luke said. Let the fish tell you what they want. There are some days I play with which direction the tail is pointing to. So far I havent found any preference to one way or another yet.

I was wondering if a person was to dip the plastic in a scented solution such as gulp alive, would that doing damage the plastic?

Gulp Alive says not to dip other’s plastic in their solution. Time to experiment and find out why I guess.

I’ll supply the plastic if someone has the “alive juice”. We may also need respirators and safety glasses

Plastic isn’t supposed to take on the liquid scent offered in Gulp alive, but I tossed a bunch of Mini Mite tails in a jar with the Gulp alive 1″ minnows during open water and left them in there a couple weeks. Whether or not they osmosed any of that scent is hard to say, but I can tell you it sure fired up their acticvity level for a while and most certainly didn’t do anything negative to the plastics.

Of course they would say that. That’s just smart business. I’ve dipped other plastics in the juice with no issues. It probably only covered the outside, but just reapply often.
