If you were a casual fishermen would you buy a flasher or a camera. I was either looking at a Marcum Vs380 or either a Marcum or Vexlar flasher.
Mainly fish crappies and sunnies and tip up’s 50% of the time.
    Pro’s con’s??

    Thanks…

Marcun LX5!! It will work day or night. Camera’s don’t always work after dark. With a marcum you can see the whole water column. Camera’s you see only one small spot. There could be fish right below the camera, right above it, or behind it. You would never know with a camera. Marcum LX5

I agree 100%. Marcum LX-5. I’ve been reading up on flashers the past year and the LX-5 is the top dog. Adjustible zoom anywhere in the water column and 3/4 of an inch sepeartion. Mine’s coming for Christmas. Only 2 weeks away. Yippie!!!

I have to agree I love my lx-5 and you will not be disappointed if you purchase one. I hope i get to use it this weekend but I’m afraid a shallow water trip is the best option right now. Dan

Maybe I should add this. If I was just giong to be sitting in a house fishing the same water most of the time a camera may be a good choice. Say like a big house on mille lacs.

There are times when a camera works better than a flasher…but 98% of the time, a flasher will out produce a camera.

Now it you would have asked that question a different way…like

When looking for (enter species) which is better? I would have a whole other answer.

Marcum Flasher Hands Down. With that being said after you find that youcan’t fish (OR REFUSE TOO LIKE ME) without your Marcum anymore then you will want to get that Underwater camera also. Both are essentials in my book, and add a lot of enjoyment to your fishing. I’ve watched so many anglers go from a good fisherman to an excellent fisherman after using a flasher for a weekend.

Flasher for this kid. A camera can be fun at times, but if you want to be mobile and the fish are on the move or you want to hole hop, the camera is more of a pain. However, if you have fish that negative and can’t detect those light bites or if you want to study the behavior of the fish, then the cameras can be helpful. Good luck with your purchase and have a fun winter!

I have both but at night fishing eyes it’s the flasher, daytime cameras down or I’m sight fishing.

If you need one more.Flasher I just got LX-5 to replace my FL-18.Also have aqua veiw its ok for ”recon” but on sunny days you have to put your coat over your head to see it,and worse in low light.Oh ,the company also went out of business. After you get the flasher 380 MarCum far and away best deal in the under $300 range.Made and SERVICED in Minnesota.Have heard fantastic reports the very few times customers have needed service.Steve

Thanks for all the comments, looks like I’ll be getting a flasher…only question now is which one??
The Lx5 is out of my price range.
Would the Vx 1 be a good choice?
