Poor souls freezing on the east coast

Doesn’t make you sick to hear of those “cold” temperatures on the east coast. Kinda makes me sick.

The average high here is 14 degrees and the low is 6 below zero. Today it was 20 and no one bothers to zip their coat up or even wear one.

Cold is 20 below when the seat of your truck has no give and when you open the door to your vehicle you think the door is going to explode or fall off.

Cold is when your dog won’t even go out to take a leak in the morning and you have to push her out the door.

Cold is when you pee and it freezes before it hits the ground!

Cold is spitting and being able to kick your spit across the ground after it hits.

Cold is going outside for 10 minutes without a hat and frostbiting your ears so bad they blister, scab and bleed over the course of the next couple days.

To the weathermen hyping this story all to death… boo hoo hoo. You had to wear a scarf to work. Big deal.

Cold is when it’s 10 below and you are fishing outside and have to keep the truck running so that you can set your open beers on the manifold to keep them from freezing. Been there done that.

Try that you folks from out east.

Cold is when the vinyl on your car seats break after you’ve pulled on the door handle and it broke off and you have to drive your vehicle, if you can get it started, three blocks to take the flat spot out of the tire from it sitting on frozen ground for a few hours. 6 belows not even cold enough to make your face feel like your face is being cut by a constant icechip storm. 10 degrees on a nice day and you don’t have to even wear a coat, just a hooded sweatshirt.

Cold is when too sunflower heaters going full bore can’t even keep the holes in my little portable fish house from freezing.

Cold is waking up to subzero temperatures and venturing onto a large lake with wind in excess of 40 mph.

Temperatures in the teens means it is time to leave the portable at home and just open ice it for the day.

Cold is when your pitching your tent on a January afternoon at Camp Ripley Minnesota when the temp, not wind chill, is 30 below.

Cold is when the soup is frozen.

Cold is when you start firing that machine gun and the bolts crack in half.

Cold is when you need a heater to thaw your beer.

Just got off the phone with someone from NY. You should have heard her whine about how cold it was, -3. I just laughed and said that’s pretty much normal for us most weeks in January.

I was just wondering where the national media is? It’s plenty colder than the snap they had a week or 2 ago, and I’m hearing nothing on the national media about this. Just another example of the east coast bias.

Thier probably too darned cold to stop shivering and talk lol, we finially made it to 4 below here, HA its summertime here! How about North Dakota with 35 below temps without the wind? A guy dosen’t have too keep his freezer pluged in if its on the back porch and save some money for more Tackle.

Its up to 14 below here in the Twin Cities. I did switch from my spring jacket to a winter jacket this morning. Looking on the internet this morning we saw -30’s for most of northern Minnesota.
You are right about the news coverage. Poor souls out east would not know how to handle what we are having right now.

-20 on my front porch this morning! That’s the coldest I’ve seen it so far.

Media? Are you kiddin’? We’re supposed to be frigid temped. To them, this isn’t news……….it’s climate. Drop us another 20 or so and we’ll get the honorable mention that the cold air mass moved through us on it’s way down to freeze the Florida orange crop!

I even threw on a sweater today.
I’m glad the winds not blowing 30 mph. I might have to dig out the winter coat too.

I just moved to Marshall, MN and the weather is crazy here. Current temperature is -14 with wind gusts of 35 mph. The wind never stops here. After one day, the 8″ we got on Monday was piled up into 4′ drifts.

This weather thing is all relative to what you are used to. But is it news ?

The bad thing about it being “cold” out east is that the price of propane, natural gas and heating oil raise through the roof.

Tonight we are looking at 40 below

It finally is too cold for me

It is not even fun to go out fishing. I don’t want to chance getting stick in this crap. You can die out there now. My luck they’d find me frozen stiff with just two teensie weensie perch in the bucket
