Just a guess here but it looks like 2″ – 3″ on the ground so far here in S. Metro.
jhalfenPosts: 4179December 9, 2009 at 4:14 am #821737About the same down here in town, Brian.
Nice thing about this snow is that it is bone dry. It’s just as easy to sweep away as it is to shovel it.
Are the big pumpkinseeds ready to go on “Lake X” yet?

weimman86Posts: 15December 9, 2009 at 4:27 am #821745The wind is really blowing hard and about 6 to 9 inches here in NW Iowa. Just got out of the hot tub outside, it was a cold run to the house!!

Well we are under a blizzard warning. 9-12″ forecasted (alot now), drifts suppose to be up to 3′. I would check road reports some are closed right now (don’t think any that would affect u right now) and with 50+ mph gust it might be dangerous. If you can, come another time if not be careful and prepared.
I got to take care of this tomorrow.

December 9, 2009 at 10:03 am #821796I got about 4-6″ on my deck Almost as much snow as we had in your boat the day we were out in October
December 9, 2009 at 11:24 am #821802Were getting heavy snow Chris and its been snowing like this all night. Along the line of hwy. 30 is the area where its supposed to be the deepest amounts and its a solid 10″ here. Usually you can hear the plows all night clearing the main roads and I haven’t heard them yet and the secondary roads aren’t plowed yet. I know theres 10″ to 12″ on my workbench outside the front door. Then we’re supposed to get up to 50 mph. winds today. Last year we had a snow similar to this but with slower winds and we had 10′ drifts and farmers were snowed in for over a week because of the drifts. I’ve been up for around an hour and haven’t seen any cars on Wilson ave., a main road, were snowed in. A plow truck just went up my road and the snows going over the top of the blade, this is the most snow we’ve had this early as far back as I can remember. If your coming down 380 to around the Rockwell-Collins area you should be ok.
December 9, 2009 at 11:49 am #821803Tough to tell here in the NW metro. She’s howling pretty good. Should make for one heck of an interesting commute today. Yippy.
December 9, 2009 at 11:54 am #821805I have about 12″ now in NE Iowa, and it’s still coming down, the big winds are just west of me. They closed the plant where my wife works.

December 9, 2009 at 12:36 pm #821809At 6:30 this beautiful winter morning the Ch 19 news is reporting in excess of 12″ in La Crosse. Sure wish it would have waited until there was some good ice set under it.
Tom SawvellInactivePosts: 9559December 9, 2009 at 1:05 pm #821814While the Rochester city streets are cleared, the primary streets anyway, the driveway had just over 15 inches on the flat. Where the plow pushed the snow into the entry of the driveway it was a brem about 8 feet from front to back and just about 4 feet high…..just enough to clear the curb and go over our sidewalk.
The wind is the killer here. Where the lpows have cleared the snow, drifts develope in less than five minutes.
December 9, 2009 at 1:11 pm #821816As my name says. I think I will wait this one out.
I am afraid to look outside but suppose I will have to face Mother Nature sooner or later. May as well be now I guess.
I haven’t heard a state or city plow yet!December 9, 2009 at 1:18 pm #821818You know it is bad outside when the National news ( The Early Show ) is reporting from your town, Rochester MN.
Time to go and dig out from what the snow plow threw in my driveway
December 9, 2009 at 1:41 pm #82182514″ here in PdC as of 6am this morning…with 2-4 more inches today
30 mph winds with higher gusts to 60 mph are expected !!
It’s a ghost town here at 3M !!!
December 9, 2009 at 1:46 pm #821833Not sure how much we got in Hastings, the lovely wind has moved things around a bit, drift on top of the truck was from the hood to the top of the roof this morning….
Made blowing the drive way easy, just put it in the air and let the wind take it.
Roads are really pretty good coming north, not much traffic at 6 am, work is pretty quiet right now.

December 9, 2009 at 1:48 pm #821837Couldn’t tell how much we got in Rogers. I had spots in the drive way that were 4′ drifts and spots that had nothing. Love the country living… Only took me an hour from Rogers to Edina, but I also left @ 6:00AM. If I didn’t have 85 things to clear from the desk I would have worked from home.
jdegeorgePosts: 29mojogunterPosts: 3289December 9, 2009 at 2:30 pm #821869In Andover, MN (north metro) I would guess we got at the most 3″
December 9, 2009 at 2:49 pm #821877Maybe 4 to 5″ here in Lilydale. I got a snow day because I’m working at the middle school in Hastings these days. My son got a snow day because W St Paul, Mendota Heights, Eagan closed. (for him). My daughter goes to Highland Catholic and she has school . And my wife has to go to work
Looks l;ike the further N you go the better the ice fishing forecast looks. I might have to bust the ice gear out this year since pool 2 looks hopeless for at least a while.
