Any one know if fishGillz sunglasses are worth the money or any others that might work? Looking for a good pair of polarized fishing sunglasses around $75.

Go to Wal-mart and buy the $5.00 Berkley sunglasses. They are as good, if not better, than the high dollar ones and you don’t feel as bad when your wife sits on them.
There are some really nice sunglasses out there but in the price range you’re talking, I’d recommend H3O sunglasses. They are super light and they are the only company I know of that gives you 3 different colored Polorized lenses!

Oh, come on! Have you ever really tried high-qualtiy sunglasses before? I’m thinking not. If you have your eyes must already be shot.

I used to use these cheaper glasses too but I found myself not wearing them because of the poor fit and lense quality. When you own a decent pair you don’t even know you have them on. I’m not saying you need to spend $250 on shades but you’ll be better off getting a decent pair right away. I’m hard on my glasses so that’s why I chose the H3O glasses. They were reasonable and yet the lenses are incredible. Take a look at em. They’ll probably be at the ice show this weekend?

Not to be contrary but my Costa 580s are incredible. I used to think the same way… high dollar glasses are a waste but now that I’ve had a pair… I love them. And the clarity and polarization is incredible. No $5 pair of glasses even comes close. And the real “glass” lenses don’t have even a single hair line scratch after 3 years of near daily use.
Now can everyone justify the expense? Likely not. And that’s why they make $5 throw away sunglasses.
I found a happy median between cost and quality. I found that Coyote Sunglasses are great! They have a lifetime warranty, made in America and have great polarization. I looked and looked for a good pair of Costas to fit my football head and the Wavekillers came close, but they were still snug. The Coyotes were in the case at Gander Mountain and I tried them on and fell in love with them. They fit great, they have great protection, and the price was GREAT!!! 50 bucks for a very nice pair of shades. Came with a soft case that also doubles over as a cleaning sheath. Check them out if you want a good pair, but can’t drop 150+ bucks on a pair…
I’ve always gone the cheap route for 2 reasons. Well, actually it is one reason with several examples. I tend to not take care of things like I should. I was always concerned that if I got a nice pair I would scratch them. From the posts, it seams that is an unfounded concern as they are built to withstand scratching. However I have miss placed several pairs, including at the bottom of lakes. I suppose I should assume expensive pairs float. Still, I just don’t trust myself enough to go over the $20 mark.
So uh, yeah. Not trying to hijack, but couldn’t help but give my 2 cents. Back to the FishGillz.
I am going to give my $.02 as well. I will say also that there is no comparison to cheap polarized glasses and a nice pair. I had a pair of Oakley eye jackets for several years that were stolen that I loved. I now have a pair of Oakley Juliet’s that I don’t like as much as my old ones, but they still are nice. I just think I prefer the plastic frames vs. the metal frames in cold weather at least. They weren’t cheap, but they do look cool
It seems to me that if you can find a cheap pair that fits well and is comfortable for you to wear all day, get them. Polarization is polarization is polarization. You either have polarization or not. There isn’t a “better” polarization. So, don’t think that the price level will help you see better into the water. It doesn’t work that way. But, the type of lens, tint, frame, and the name is what eats up the money. I never spend more than $20.00 on a pair of glasses. My buddy has a $250.00 pair and I see everything he does. Just my $0.02
Well the only reason I would buy the fish Gillz is they float. I have a pair of oakleys now but the sink if they fall in. The wife would kill me if they fell in.
Purchased my first Costa 580’s this last summer and as an earlier post said “Incredible” compared to all the others I have had in the past. Fantastic for fishing!
Paid about $200, well well worth it.

I wear the Coyote’s too. I’ve had them for three years now. Bought them at Sportsmen’s when I first moved to Anoka. Got em for 40 buck on sale. I never go with out them now. The warranty works good to. I had a problem with them and they sent a new pair! They will never leave my head.
I have to agree with the H3O’s to, love my pair and wear them more than my Ocean Waves. Around a $100 but about the cheapest quality glasses I have tried. I know I spent hundreds over the years on cheapies and nothing but burning eyes and headaches after a full day on the water. Going to try the 580’s next year though since I rely on sight so much for my summer fishing.
