Boiled Mud puppy tails and melted butter.

…and a can of Cold Spring.

    Life doesn’t get much better.

Well, I’m not so sure about the Cold Spring but the rest sounds about right.

Yup, mudpuppy. Good thing they don’t have teeth, an attitude like that would cost at least one finger, maybe two jerr

I call it a lamprey. Nasty looking thing, about 12″-14″ long with a whole mouth full of teeth. That one went home in the minnow bucket. I’m thinking the coons had a tasty snack last nite. jerr

Lamprey for sure. Not uncommon for them to come aboard attached to large sturgeon in the Rainy River system. It is common to find scars on sturgeon there. Nasty stuff.

First lamprey I ever saw was on a crappie. Scared the river water right out of me!

Lots of them on the St. Croix carp.

Wow, that is a huge lamprey- I have only seen one in my life and it was on a pike-and about 1/4 the size of the one you caught!!!
