    Our latest In-Depth Outdoors sponsor!

John Cardinal is the expert skill behind Nature’s Image Taxidermy. A native of Minnesota, John has spent the last 12 years in the quiet countryside of Frederic Wisconsin. During his 30 years of taxidermy John has mounted or made replicas of a wide variety of fish and mammals. He handles all species (except for poisonous) with a recent new focus on river walleyes and saugers.

Specimens that arrive at Nature’s Image Taxidermy began their journey from exciting locations as the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, China, Russia, Mongolia, Spain and Argentina to name just a few.

John works with each client on an individual basis to clearly lay out the ideas for the mount or replica. His attention to research and detail is what keeps clients coming back year after year with new prize catches for John to create another amazing trophy to display.

The photo’s below are of John’s work, but clearly do not show the attention to detail that John gives each and every replica or mount. For example the Large Mouth Bass from California weighs in at 22 pounds. The Blue Catfish is a replica of a 72 pound Blue from Texas. It’s just not possible to capture the true colors and detail with a camera!

John is on-line here at In-Depth Outdoors, but because of his work he doesn’t spend a lot of time on the computer. The best way to have questions answered and to receive price quotes would be to give John a call directly.

John will be posting soon on how to preserve your fish and animals for the best mounts possible.

Shipping to and from Nature’s Image is available to clients upon request.

Its hard to get good pictures of mounts…. But since the photos here look really, REALLY good, I can only assume that the mounts in person look phenomenal.

Love the turkey on the roost!!!

Reminder to guys interested in a mount… Today’s replica mounts are fantastic recreations… They are very detailed, look just like the real thing (given good photos to work with) and will last every bit as long or longer than skin mounts. Plus they allow that trophy to keep swimming and reproducing, and you don’t have to worry about size limits/regulations for keeping fish, preserving, or transporting a carcass. Win-win for sure!

I’ve got a replica steelhead that looks just incredible. I have seen many excellent musky, bass, salmon, pike, etc, and replica mounts just don’t seem to “age” at all… I’ve even seen a taxidermist (this taxidermist) make a gar look “good”… If he can do that with gar and cats, just imagine what he can do with a real game fish! (Sorry cat guys, couldn’t resist… LOL)

Are you going to hire a flathead or a sturgeon to drag those “game fish” to the studio?

    Welcome to Ido John!

Do you make replicas of Mud Puppies?

I know I’ve posted this before, but it’s just so amazing how accurate of a replica this is. If you happen to get to Everts Resort, not only take a look at the Alligator Gar, but look at the photo attached to it.

Once past my handsome looks compare the real fish to the replica. Note the markings in the tail. It’s an exact match.

I don’t think whiskers would look good on a duck.

Well, Brian is right…I don’t spend much time on the computer and wow…was I surprised and pleased to receive such a warm welcome from everyone! I have been busy working on deer (my own to hunt and others to mount) as it is one of Wisconsin’s busiest times of year. I had a really nice 13 point buck come in on opening day and that will become a full standing mount by the time I am finished. I hope the Minnesota hunters had as good a year as well.

I am looking forward to meeting some of you at Dean’s in the future. I will try to remember and post when I am coming to visit Dean so that if you have any specific questions I will try to be prepared to answer them.
