Anyone else watching this?????? They forgot to hire a play-by-play announcer and a color commentator. I never realized how “very boring” a football game can be without some discussion. All you hear is crowd noise

November 13, 2009 at 2:49 am #815576The NFL is pouring more money into an already dead goat than I thought possible. I hate Thursday night games, the players hate them, and most everybody I chum with hates them. Most of us hate them because the controversy going on between the NFL and the cable companies. People like me won’t pay extra to have a channel that is viable for 8 weeks a year. The players hate the game because it makes their two play weeks to off kilter. It isn’t like they are playing a Monday night game in front of a national audience, there is no special allure for anyone.
I’d agree the first five minutes of silence could have been worse, much worse. Matt Millen, Boomer, Sharpe, Dierdork, among many others.

The only time I think there should be pro football on a thursday is on Thanksgiving. Even if that means I have to watch the Cowboys play. There’s just something about having the family all fat and happy in the recliners and piled on the couch watching football on Thanksgiving that just feels right.
whittsendPosts: 2389November 13, 2009 at 9:33 am #815604I missed the game… From what you guys are saying, they had no commentators for the first 5 minutes??? Huge improvement for the NFL network, I would assume. At least over Gumballs when they had him. Worst announcer ever. Showtunes or “the most annoying sound in the world” a la Dumb and Dumber would have been better than listening to Gumballs talk…
November 13, 2009 at 10:33 am #815612Jay Cutler sure is making Denver look smart.
I only watched the first and last quarter and missed nothing in the middle. What a boring game.
November 13, 2009 at 1:42 pm #8156275 interceptions, WOW! I watched very little of the game, because it was bad and the announcers were horrible. Matt Millen not only destroys an entire organization, he can destroy a game as well. I wonder how many of Jay’s interceptions were caused by receivers not finishing their routes? That has been a huge problem this year.
November 13, 2009 at 1:47 pm #815629I thought it was a great game, I have to ask again, is Cutler playing for Da Bears?
November 13, 2009 at 1:49 pm #815630We had Matt Millen. I think I would have preferred crowd noise only.
November 13, 2009 at 2:44 pm #815640Thursday night football also screws up fantasy football which is the 2nd best thing about the NFL………….after the Vikings!

November 13, 2009 at 3:10 pm #815650Don’t worry about the game guys you did’t miss a thing just cutler throwing the ball to the 49ers every chance he got. Had the 49ers brought there A game they could have had 10 ints easy..Not only is Denver looking really good after this game but Brad Childress is also looking sweet for nixing our trade for cutler at the last minute……….He looked terrible but maybe he will look better next year when they buy some receivers to catch the ball.
November 13, 2009 at 3:26 pm #815656I only caught a little bit of the game last night. That Cutler sure is a tool.
I enjoy watching football on Thursday night. I enjoy watching it on Saturdays too. Same with Sundays and Mondays. It sure beats the crap out of watching the NBA – how about those Wolves?
If you don’t enjoy watching it on Thursday night, don’t turn it on, get cable instead of DirectTV, or record it and watch it on Sunday.
As for the poor cable companies that refuse to pay the NFL to show the Thurs games. Maybe they should consider getting rid of 80% of the other lame shows I would never want to watch. That might save them enough to pay for it.
Why do I care if the players don’t like it? Maybe they would rather have a real job. BTW – I don’t like working on Monday mornings either (or Tues – Fridays either).
November 13, 2009 at 8:35 pm #815767Wow, what a stinker. I’m so glad we went to our state 6-man high school football championship game instead!

What do you mean??? Doesn’t everyone watch their 8 channels of home shopping network, 12 channels of various religious programming, and 34 more channels of various crap??
There’s always talk of the FCC intervening and making true a la carte programming an option. I’d be all for that, fo’ sho’ (assuming it actually ends up cheaper for the dozen channels that I DO want to watch).
