Not sure if this was posted. I am not a hunter, but I think this guy should be facing more jail time and a stiffer fine.

That is very sad, but he sounds like a great guy, Domestic assault, fishing with too many lines, and theft. Sounds like a waste of space to me.

At least the news article in the paper, where the buck died striking that concrete elk was a little funny. I’m sure glad the owner got a little venison from the deal

Lot of good info there. Not only has he been in trouble but I read on a couple of them that he violated his parole. I’m sure he will plead guilty and be given a slap on the wrist and given yet another chance. The sad part is it was a whopping $117 fine for the extra fishing line.

Hang on guys I’m sure he didn’t mean it and he probably just needs a little “Counseling!” Ya that’ll fix his urges to commit horrible crimes, some counseling

I bet we can find a bunch of guys on here that would love to give this guy some good old fashion counseling ….

seems to me he has done it before and he WILL do it again, nothing will stop him. just like drivers who lose there licences and keep driving> The worst part is the Black eye he is giving to all ethical and true sportsmen and women. I am fairly certain that in the non hunters mind we are all the same. just the way they think IMO

We don’t have to wonder why it is hard to find good hunting land. I can’t blame the owner for changing his attitude.

To me it looks like they may add on two additional charges.

Star Tribune article… DNR officials said they don’t think the animal was killed where Reinke claimed it was. Officers have interviewed a cousin of Reinke’s and the cousin’s girlfriend, who say they helped lift the deer into Reinke’s pickup. That location is near where a landowner reported hearing a shot and seeing a vehicle drive away, according to a source familiar with the investigation. The pair told DNR officers they weren’t with Reinke when the deer was killed, but they responded to his request for help.

This certainly raises flags in my head as he may be the shooter with a firearm now and additional GM charges.

They can add all the charges they want, but I’m guessing the DA will plead the case down because of this:

Without a bullet or slug and a firearm to match one or the other to, it might be difficult to prove Reinke killed the buck, according to the DNR.

Short of proving the lead found in the hide matches the lead he may or may not still possess, you are probably right. Not sure(if possible) how much money the government is going to spend trying get $10k + or – from a dead beat like this guy.

Looks like a year in jail, small fine, and loses his hunting privileges for five years. I’m not sure what losing he hunting privileges will accomplish seeing as he is a poacher.

It’s quite “humorous” how poachers lose their hunting and fishing privledges.

DEER KILLED ND man faces charges in shooting of 17 deer Bismarck, N.D. (AP)

A rural Bismarck man faces charges after authorities say 17 dead deer were found around his property.

Sixty-eight-year-old William Dethloff was charged with 17 counts pertaining to shooting of deer and harboring their carcasses.

Court documents says a Game and Fish investigator found the dead deer all shot in February. Some of the carcasses were in plain sight; others were buried in the snow.

In 1997, Dethloff was ordered to forfeit his hunting privileges for 18 months for hunting without a license.

A call to a number listed for Dethloff rang unanswered on Friday.

kind of like how he can’t shoot a deer out of season. the rules of the land obviously have no bearing on him.

    just another oxygen stealer…
