The fish are in the water and I would use anything you think you could catch them with

PS: want me to haul and dock your boat for you too ??

It would be a bit of help to know what you want to target for fish.

1$bill….Try launching the new landing found just before you get to West Newton. If you are looking for panfish, they’ll be easy to find along the channel edges wherever there is some wood and deeper water.

If you’re looking for walleyes or sauger, try closer to the dam with jig/minnow combinations or jig/plastic. Blade baits being jigged will get you fish too. The long, deep waters of the main channel will give up sauger anywhere from the high power lines to the dam. Once in a while a nice pike will hit and catfish are also taken from the same areas. Find boats and do what they are doing, just don’t crowd.

The fishing has been a touch slow recently, but you should be able to find something to tangle with.

We put in at the new landing yesterday and this past Wednesday. Except for the hole on the south edge of the concrete ramp everything went smooth. Sunday early was good for small sauger up by the dam. Then the water become very dirty and weedy. That pretty much stopped the bite.

I am NOT a smart but it was just the way you asked the questions, had you asked for help locating a certain species and technique suggestions, it would have been easier to reply in a more pleasant manner.
I have now learned you have no sense of humor and will reply in a more propper manner.

Follow through with what CT and Gundez-71 have suggested and it should put you on some fish, its been 5-6 years since I have fished that area.

Good luck and let us know how you did.

I am new to fiver fishing and not that good of a fishermen but I WILL FISH MORE my wife thinks I work to much and need to spend more time with our 10 year old. and I like the the river. It is so cool. There is so much to see. I recently bought a 16 ft Nader fishing boat with a 25 horse Johnson ( S&M could not figure out the year of the motor) that I am going to dial in this winter (rod holders, live well, cup holders. etc) we went out the twice this last week and did not have much luck finding fish today we caught 10 sun fish all were about 6 inches long or shorter we found them close to shore in about 6 feet of water.by some trees. my questions are these how can I tell there is a wing dam? what is the area just south of Wabasha bridge called I went though about 50 feet of shallow water (WI side) then found a Chanel and went south to the edge of the tree line and fished that area. any help in my quest to be a fisherman would be greatly appreciated thanks Kurt

Looks to me like he wants to make his trips more enjoyable
    for his “family”.

If you don’t like the way somebody asks a question why don’t you move on to a question/comment you approve of
instead of offending someone and turning them off to IDO.

Or you could have asked what species he was targeting
but being that you haven’t fished that area in 5-6 years
you probably had no place asking that question either.

That’s as pleasant and proper as my opinion will be on
    your reply.

Yeah… Trumar’s good people. I’m sure he didn’t mean to offend anyone. Lord knows I’ve had those days when everything I say just comes out wrong. I say we give him a pass on this one but if he gets out of hand again we make him eat stink bait. Agreed?
