I am running XP on my home computer and would like to use yahoo as the default email. I go to Tools, internet options, programs and select email. The only choices given are hotmail, outlook and msn explorer. Am I missing something? How does a guy get yahoo as one of the selections? Is this possible? Thanks.

go to http://www.yahoo.com & select “mail” …. then just bookmark it…. smarter people probably know better ways, but this will work.

Microsoft built a “convenient” feature into the Microsoft Internet Explorer that lets you either use the File/Send To command or the mail icon in the toolbar to call up a default e-mail program directly from the browser.

The catch is that each provider (e.g. Yahoo) must supply a small program to tweak the browser code and “register” itself as an optional e-mail service. Here is where Yahoo posts its program:

    http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/ext/ext-11.html

Once you run the Yahoo applet at that URL you will find Yahoo on the email list in your browser.
