The Honda crotch rocket rider was traveling at approximately 85 mph. The VW driver was talking on a cell phone when she pulled out from a side street, apparently not seeing the motorcycle. The riders reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 20 feet from where the collision took place.

All three involved (two in the car and the bike rider) were killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at the Motorcycle Fair by the Police and Road Safety Department.

Pass this on to car drivers or soon to be new drivers, or new motorcycle owners AND ESPECIALLY EVERYONE YOU KNOW WHO HAS A CELL PHONE!!!!!

A picture is worth a thousand words.

That’s the first thing I thought, too.
Why would you ride that fast… just because you can?

Now, I don’t use my phone for any reason while driving, but I fail to believe the driver of the VW didn’t see the bike because she was on her phone.

A crotch rocket traveling 85mph is GOING to be difficult to see for anybody… especially if we’re talking about night driving, congested driving conditions, winding or hilly roads… all kinds of variables… all of which pose distractions that are further complicated by that stupid piece of electronics you have attached to your ear.

    Anyway, I digress.

    Hang up the phone? Yes.

More importantly, drive with modesty, respect and safety in mind at all times.

Ya the biker was going to fast and wasn’t driving defensively, but the the VW driver was totally at fault.

We get to take driving courses here at work by a company called Smith Systems, and they did a test where they had people talking on their cell phones and to say they were distracted was a understatement.

Nobody should a have a cell phone stuck in their ear, its no better than eating, putting make up on, reading the paper or anything else that distracts a driver from keeping that almost two tons of vehicle from crashing into someone else. IMHO

TOTALLY at fault? Anyone who intentionally drive 30-40mph over the speed limit has to take some responsibility for the accident that is sure to follow.

Granted, talking on a cell phone can be very distracting for some drivers but excessive speed is equally dangerous.

The people you need to talk to will still be there when you arrive at your destination. Talk to them then and save your fellow drives’ life!
