Well, I raised up my bow mount and pinched my transducer cable in half. Any ideas on splicing? Should I just bite the bullet and get a new one? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Splicing is not an option, unless your in a bind on a fishing trip or something. But if your looking to prevent any future problems its best just to order a new one.

Once you’ve copied the url just click on the “url” tab in the Instant UBB Code box. Paste the url into the dialogue box that opens. Give the url a name or accept the default which is “web page.” I’ve attached an image so you know where to start. Its so easy a caveman could do it.

The first sentence in the previous post says “Lowrance does not recommend cutting and slicing of transducer cables”, in which you don’t want to have your splice near any contact with water,Water infiltration in this cable can cause delaminating, internal corrosion, and cable damage, which can result in poor performance at the least and sounder malfunction or damage at the worst. It should not be exposed to rain or spray, nor be allowed to lay in the Bilge or other area which will allow it to be submerged in water. If using a “heat shrink” insulating material, for either the center conductor connection, shield connection, overall splice, or all of the above, place over the cut ends now…….right from lowrance.

If your splicing a ducer because of a pinch off of trolling motor, I would say your running the risk of being exposed to either water or rain. If it was up to me and I had the chance to do it right the first time I would replace the whole transducer cable, put the damaged on in a dry storage of my boat, and if I pinched it again on the water I would have a back up plan so I could continue to fish. There is a time for splicing. The original post and my comment was made with intentions of fixing the cut tranducer cable on top exposed to elements of fishing. If some how the connection was cut or damaged someplace else, I would recommend a splice to save some money, I wouldn’t do a splice in this case….
