When are you “clingers” going to let go of the past? If that is all you took from that game last night, you probably have a kid named “Brent”. If you didn’t see that Rodgers is going to be a pretty decent QB, in spite of the p***-poor offensive line, then there’s not a bit of hope for you. You might just as well go over to the “dark side” where “Brent” went.

Thompson and McCarthy had the kahones’ to make a decision not to be held up by a waffler. Right now, to some people, it looks like it was a mistake. Just wait a while and see where the Vikings are at when “Brent” decides to hang it up…….. AGAIN!!!! Then it will be the TJ and Sage show. Isn’t that something to look forward to!!!!!
Oh yeah, I think they’ve also got John David Booty sitting on their practice squad gaining all that important experience while “Brent” and the crew chase the “brass ring” that will forever elude the Vikings. There’s always gotta be a second place finisher, and it fits no other team better than the Vikes

Who took a leak in your cherrios this morning?

    Brett Favre, that’s who!

Clinger’s? If I were a clinger I would still be rooting for the Packers even after those Aholes kicked the fans in the face but I’m not. I am rooting for the Vikings who acquired the former heart of “YOUR” team!

I would be more apt to call him the former franchise saving god.

We just call him old man. It’s ironic how quickly some pack fans have quickly forgotten how he single handily pulled that franchise from the bowels of NFL teams.

Just wait by the end of the season you will be chirping about how “The God Favre ” cost you some games by timely ints and urine poor choices.
Don’t worry it will come because we know, we also got to witness that first hand also.

If you give Favre credit for the 13-3 in 2007, you also have to give him credit for the 4-12 in 2005.

Thats the way it is with Favre you have to take the good with the bad, (which you haven’t seen yet )

I can promise you this. I will never anoint him as God like so many of you have. Yes, I fully expect him to lose us a game or two. But, I also expect he will win us games(i.e. San Fran) that Tjack would never be able to. We made a good move picking him up.

    Ditto!
But Manning(s), Elway, Marino, Young, Montana and many others threw an INT or two in their career. Many pundits have always agreed the “Queens” were a QB away from getting deep into the post season, if not the SB. Say (Or whine) what you want…but I think “Brent” gives us an honest chance to do it this year or next.

And as for T-Jack and Sage??? We are just waiting for you clowns to train Rodgers in before we come over there and steal him too!

I will agree with you on what a pickup he is for your team

You mentioned the SF game, My opinion is yes he did take them down the field but the catch to win was more impressive than the throw. We got to witness the same thing with a different ending in the NFC Championship in 07 when he threw a pick to keep us from going to the superbowl.

That pass he threw at the end of last nights game might have come from his call and not the coaches, just my opinion.

All I am saying is be ready to be let down at the end of the season, Not 100% sure it will happen, but we watched/followed him for quite a bit more than just 4 games

As long as you guys are prepared to be let down like last night…and the Bears are prepared to be let down…and Detroit…

It’s funny…everyone is sitting here saying “Ooooooh…look out!” “This is going to happen, that is going to happen!” But look what HAS happened…He won the game last week by throwing a rocket to the right receiver at the right time to win the game. He managed to play a fantastic game last night in spite of all the people out there that want to say “Aha!!! I told you he was too old/washed up/add your own adjective to get the job done!” Rodgers, Stoddard and Cutler could also go down with an injury tomorrow!!! So what? This is the first time that as a Vikings fan I can honestly say I am comfortable with our QB. Will/could he blow a game? Sure…but like was said…he didn’t WIN the games by himself…and he won’t lose them by himself either.
I have no dillusions of a perfect season for the Vikes. I think the Ravens will give them all they can handle and then some! I think they will also lose a game many thought they would win! In the words of Mike Tice “Sit back and ENJOY the season!!!”

But what calls exactly are they going to dispute, calls that cost them the game? Was it the interference where Woodson turned the receiver by his hips by wrapping him before the ball got there?

No, not that call that was made moot by the offside penalty on the same play. I already mentioned the 5 yard out of bounds tackle which should have given GB a 15 yard penalty for unnecessary roughness. There was also several times that the right defensive end or tackle jumped the snap and should have been called offside. One of those was on 1st down and goal. McCarthy had to use his last challenge on a totally missed fumble that was not a fumble in any sense of the word and eventually ended up being a safety. The was also a holding call on Woodsen that was pretty questionable and not the one that was or was not in the end zone. The Pack was penalized 7 times for 57 yards and the queens only 2 times for 10 yards. It was more of the non calls that may have influenced the game though. Whether any of these would have given the Pack the win will never be known, but after seeing last weeks game, there seems to be something fishy going on with the officiating in the Metrodome.

I think it’s safe to say you watched the game with green shaded glasses. I watched with purple. I think we could both rewatch the tape and find several times the refs missed calls both ways.

I also saw at least 4 holding calls in the first half that were not called and 2 of those were on good returns, which is fine, but when the pack get called for holding on the next return and you don’t even see it on the replay, then it gets ya thinking. Also I saw 2 times Kampmen getting a face full of hands with all the fingers in the facemask and no calls, Couple of plays later here comes a holding call because the O linemen fell down and here comes a first down, on some good drives yes that can change the out come of the game.

All I am saying is what is good for the goose should be good for the gander, either call them or let them play but call them the same for both teams.

I am NOT saying that those missed calls changed the outcome of this game because the Packers did not deserve to win this game but who knows. A 15 yd flag can trash a drive in a hurry, just make it the same for all players/teams. for example M.Jordon gets 4 steps while the rest of the NBA gets 3, Brady gets brushed and Flacco gets hammered from both sides one low and one high and Brady gets the flag.

Keep it fare or don’t throw it.

    Sandbar,
Very nice banter there, but Brett is not the only waffler in the world—-we are all wafflers!!!!!
My blood flows green, and yes we have a very good QB-but that does not excuse Thompson’s adgenda of replacing Favre, which incidently started the day he drafted Rogers and proclaimed him the heir to the throne before even practicing one time in the NFL, how do you think that would make Brett feel? Certainly not all warm and fuzzy.
Anyone facing retirement at age 38-40 would feel the same way–a genuine waffler on the subject.
So, I am still a Favre fan and still a Packer fan-just this senerio makes it very difficult and painful.
On a side note, maybe it is about time you Queen fans start counting your blessings and ride the wave of positive attitude (which I understand is hard since your hopes and dreams have been dashed EVERY TIME.) since you now have the best QB you ever had since Fran, have the best running back in the league, good tight ends, good recievers, good offensive line and a good defense–if you guys can not be upbeat and positive now, nothing in God’s green earth is going to help you other than moving your team to another city/state which will appreciate it.
BTW, dressing in yellow and purple and playing in the worst football venue in the world does not help.
Will you guys finally be happy if you win a Superbowl, or will you find something wrong then as well?????
You got a great team, just accept that and enjoy it while it’s there.

    Doc,
You have quite a few points to comment on in your post. I probably won’t answer them all, but I can give you my point of view as a life long Viking fan.

First, most of my good friends are Packer fans. So throwing BS back and forth at each other is half the fun. I love the fact that Favre had a pretty darn good game and kicked some cheeseheads .

Regarding Favre and the Packers waffling, I used to every year Favre held the Packers hostage. Both Thompson/McCarthy and Favre are to blaim. To be honest, I don’t blame the Packers for moving on.

When the rumors started about Favre coming to Minnesota, I was dead set against it. Why? Because I loved to hate him for 16 years when he was a Packer. I do drink too much of the Purple Koolaid. It took me a few games to start cheering for him in Purple. Now we are sitting at 4-0, we haven’t won anything yet and it’s a long season. But it’s a heck of a start.

I know the Vikings have never won the Super Bowl, and being reminded of that by my Packer friends is always a pain to hear. Is this our year? We have a lot of pieces in place to make a run deep into the playoffs, again it’s early in the season. It would be a heck of a cinderella story for Favre.

Will the Vikings leave Minnesota? I don’t know and I sure the heck hope not. That would rip my guts out. The legislative folks need to get creative and get a new stadium built.

The only other thing I can add…. It sure was great seeing #4 beating up his old team wearing Purple. I still have a smile on my face.

You guys have every right to be on cloud nine. If we at GB get out O-line straightened out, then maybe our QB will not die by game 6 or so and we can cancel the casket order.
Have fun with your season, even if it is at our expense.

I had to share this. I have a coworker that was crushed when Favre left the Packers. He told me today he couldn’t watch the game Monday night. It was to difficult seeing Favre in Purple. I almost busted out laughing. What a moron.

The first time I saw Favre in purple, it was odd. But it went away until Monday night. Then it really seemed odd. I was never against Favre coming here for 2 reasons. I always respected him and was the only Packer player that I didn’t despise. I guess I never really had a problem with Longwell and Sharper either, so maybe I have no problem former Packers playing here. But as the only guy I admired in Green and Gold, I got to say I was excited, disappointed, excited, disappointed and finally excited this summer when he finally signed on the dotted line.

So I guess there was only one reason and that was that it would cheese off the cheeseheads and kick the rivalry up a notch. I mean seriously, former worshipers at the alter of Favre burned their jerseys? I say any day a Packer fan is willing to burn a green and gold Packer jersey, it is a good day.

Looks like a few people watched the game.

Not only did last night’s “Monday Night Football” sack broadcasters in the Nielsens, the Minnesota vs. Green Bay game was the most-watched program in cable history.

A mammoth 21.8 million viewers watched Brett Farve lead the Vikings against his former team, drawing a 9.0 rating among adults 18-49.

The second-most-watched program in cable history was also on ESPN — last fall’s Eagles vs. Cowboys game.

Ya everybody for forgets that, and I like the fact that the first NFL pass he threw was to himself, by the way as a Packer. Man he looked like a high school kid in those old clips.
