Hey guys, I belive I smoked my board in my PD. I can hear the solenoid click when I try to turn it on and the motor powers on when I bypass the board.
Is there a place near Maple Grove that repairs Minnkota?

Motor Clinic for busted Minkota. Fish Electronics for busted fish finders and GPS.

For sure motor clinic if it is still under warranty. (or even close.) Brind the reciept and they will take care of all paperwork!

Another VOTE for Motor Clinic for both Minnkota and Motorguide.

Excellent service and they fixed mine while I waited.

    FYI: VEXILAR equipment too.

    Actually, I’ll give them a double-double-

If memory serves me right, contact “500” here on IDO. He might be able to guide you in the right direction.

Another option that is very close to you is the bait shop on Hwy 10 in Anoka. I think the Anglers Paradise sign is gone since the Liqour store upstairs remodeled. I have used Jack many times before and highly recommend his work.

If you are mechanically inclined which you sound like you are. You were able to bypass the board so you know the motor is good, you can do it yourself. Just call Minnkota and give them the serial # on the head unit of your motor and you can get the board from them. They are in Mankato and you can get the parts in a day. I had a PD with the same symptoms and I changed it myself, takes about 45 minutes to change out the board. Board costs about $100. About 10 wires to swap from old board to new one. Save yourself $75 in labor.

I had a bad experience with Fish Lectronics this summer. Last November I bought a factory refirbished motor from them off of ebay. Picked up the motor, but didn’t get a chance to use it last fall. He told me he would give me a warranty on it until the end of this September. Well I put it on my boat this spring, replacing a older 24 volt motor with a newer more powerful 24 volt. I took it out on the river and it ran for 10 seconds and quit. After checking things out and unplugging it, it ran for 10 seconds again. So I went home, called FE and they said to bring it in. They told me they tank tested it and it is fine. Drove back up there, picked it up, tried it again, ran for 10 seconds and quit. Called them again, they said it’s got to be my wiring. Called a friend with a boat with 24 volt sys. and put it on his boat. It ran for 10 seconds and quit. Called Minnkota and they immediately said the circuit board is bad. Called FE and told them what Minnkota said, brought it back into them again and they replaced the circuit board. He knew I was not a happy camper after making 3 trips up there to get it fixed. After all that now it works fine, but I will never go back there again.

I Would just order/buy the board and do it yourself. I think all you need is a screw driver. I did it myself in the dark in the garage with a lamp for a light on my PD unit. Got the board from scheels.
