Walleye’s are biting 12-14 fow in the weeds. I was pulling cranks white and blue & white. caught 40+ on Labor day weekend with the family. We also bobber fished with leech’s by the weed edge.

I live in the Alexandria area which is only 20 min south of Miltona, so I get up that way quite a bit. Miltona has a very good population of walleye and is one of the best well rounded lakes in the state. This lake has the ability and does produce trophy fish of just about every species, even though the lake is managed primarily for walleye.

The lake can be excellent all year long. The last month has been fairly decent pulling crawlers over shallow weeds. Evenings have been best but fish have been biting during the day as well.

Now as we come into the Fall the lake will really come alive. Miltona has a very high number of small fish in the 10-13″ range, so keep moving until you find some nicer fish. In the Fall a good old jig and a minnow will be your bait of choice and fish the steepest breaks you can find. Miltona is a phenomenal lake but don’t forget about the dozens of other lakes within 20 min of Miltona that also produce some incredible fishing. Below is just a little taste of what the area has to offer. I hope you have a great trip and good luck!

No problem Frenchboy, I hope you have a great trip.

Everyone here on IDO is so nice and would never say anything negative, but I just wanted to point out that the majority of my fish are released. There are many of my clients that won’t keep a fish for three days and then on the last day would like some to bring home. I just thought I’d mention this in case there are any readers out there that were concerned about the number of fish being harvested. Good luck to everyone. Thanks!
