Got the H2o c out today and it has been outside for an hour and will not lock on to any satelites. It has been about two months since i used it last but it has allways locked on without a problem. Seems like I read something on here awhile back about resetting the unit or something. Any ideas or recomendations, I have tried about everything.

If you still have the manual it will have directions to recalibrate or reboot unit. I dont remember off hand.

Look in the Lowrance forum. I asked about the same thing. I will bring my post back to the top. It seemed to help a little but only for a short while. Now I can leave it on for hours and nothing.

I had trouble with mine when I first got it, and I was told to try this–

    menu
    menu
scroll to GPS setup (hit right arrow)
highlight initialize GPS and press enter
scroll to your position (as close as you can)
    hit enter

I had a bad unit, so it didn’t work, but maybe it will work for you.

    Good Luck

Have you checked the batteries?? Might be the first thing I’d try.

I totally agree with checking the batteries first!

The H2O C and the Hunt C are almost identical i believe. On my Hunt C i Did exactly what Husky Jerk mentioned and it worked after that. The first unit i got never locked on and had to return it. second unit I initialized the gps and it works great. Cold starts still take forever.

Now I’m really confused…. everyone was 2 thumbs up (well, maybe one) on this GPS a couple of weeks ago when someone asked about GPS units & based on the number of units returned in this thread, I’m wondering how many “Duds” make it out of the factory and into the stores??????

I would still give the H2OC 2 thumbs up, even though I got a ‘DUD’ the first go around. I don’t know the numbers, but there are bound to be some that make it out of the factory that are not up to par. Just my thoughts.

I was very happy with mine until it started to no longer acquire position. It is about 2 years old and has received a ton of use. After I started having problems with it and I started asking around for solutions I talked to a fair amount of people that also had units that suddenly took a crap just like mine.

I have had mine for about 2 weeks now and havent had a problem. First time turning it on it took about 5 min to lock in, but everytime since than has only taken a minute at max. Still trying to figure out how to load the card onto the gps but thats a differnt story.

So far I would have to say

    My lock-in time is a bit longer….5-6 min,sometimes more.
Make sure you have a unobstructed sky the first time for the day….once it locks in it seems it’s not quite as sensitive.

I have the card in the gps, it just wont load the info from the card onto the gps. Go to load it and it says no info on card, but the info shows up while jut using the gps

That is odd…mine loaded right up..did not even have to do anything special…..

I’ll leave this up to the experts…..
